Well, 'my' coat of arms is on the avatar. There was some meaning to it, I'm sure. The Latin motto is Tenerum Verbum est Optima Magia.

And a few in WWI. :P

Here's my family crest. This is the one that isn't the field medics. These guys were military class in Holland waaaay back though.

My great-grandfather served in the military, but not a field medic. He was in the Cavalry (which we still had at that time).


His horse got shot out from under him.

After that, he served in a camel squadron. And his camel got shot out from under him.

Then he served in a motorcycle squadron. His motorcycle was shot out from under him.

Then he was assigned to a light machine gun team. His machine gun /didn't/ get shot out from under him.

I can't work out whether he was doing it right, this time, or not doing it right.

(Latest "Clan badge" comment made me realise I could always revert to my Tartan pattern.  Well, if I wanted to subscribe to an semi-artificial Victoriana Georgian[1] version of my Scottish heritage, which I could take or leave, but I don't mind exploiting either.)


[1] edit: Sorry, brainfart.  'Twas actually George IV's time, IIRC, BICSBW.  (The Victorian era was just so darned long that I tend to conflate everything into it when I'm rushing to post!)
