What's new?

It's been a while since I've played DF and I've completely lost track of where development has gone.  Last time I played, the caravan arc was still being worked on.  Can anyone give a quick run down of the major features that have been added?

Forget the actual version number, but it was just before caravans.  I actually have played more of DF before Z-Axis...

I thought caravans were in DF from the start.

Do you remember minecarts?
Do you remember werebeasts, vampires, and husks?
Do you remember clay?
Do you remember pastures?
Do you remember bogeymen?
Do you remember...uh...yeah, I started playing a bit before bogeymen and the like were added.

Haha, so it looks like a lot has changed!

I meant caravans actually traveling around the map.  It was in the same arc that allowed armies to walk around.

Errrrrr........... what... when was this? That is what is being implemented right now.

I think he means before the caravan arc got started. Honestly I'm not sure about the whole arc system, so hopefully someone else can help you out. The good news is that there have been quite a few dwarven intelligence improvements, so you should see dwarves building themselves on the wrong side of walls/channeling out the ground from underneath their friends less. Wagons are back, so I believe caravans can now carry more weight. The justice system has been changed to require witnesses to know if someone is dead or alive and to be able to say what happened to them. I could go on and on, but here:

Download the new version of DF and find the "release notes.txt" file. It's a little messy, but it has every major change made for the past few versions. I wish I could give you a full rundown of all the important changes, but not only have there been a ton of changes, but they've all been in different areas making it even harder to put it into a cohesive list.

Yeah, arcs can be confusing.  I know Gods were implemented a few releases after I left.
