Removal of cat genetal areas through spear surgery
« on: August 16, 2012, 08:03:57 am »

So, I've seen reports about creatures' groins being cut off, and was wondering if this affects the said individuals ability to breed (might be a mod though, tell me if it is please). If it does, I'll start sterilizing my cats with a upright spear trap. It's cruel and propably 99% of the time it hits where it's not supposed to, but that really doesn't matter. Also, to be sure, I'm referring to the game and I have no intentions to perform such acts to any real cats :).

Animals still reproduce through spores. There's nothing to 'remove' afaik. If you don't want them to breed so much you could reduce the litter to 1 to stop catsplosion. And make +kitten biscuits+

Yeah, mass-butchering of kittens takes place in my fortress pretty much every year. Groins do come off in vanilla though?

Kitten meat and leather has just become a part of my games now, Good for supplementing live stock.

We just need to get Toady to embed a Lisp interpreter into DF.  Learning lambda calculus in order to play the game wouldn't make DF's learning curve much steeper.

Dwarf Fortress: where we castrate cats by building a system that impales them with spears. And when the spear comes out through the other side, it really doesn't matter, we get free cat biscuits!

Come to think about it, it is less painful than most other ways we use to kill cats.

By that logic, you shouldn't be able to play dwarves because they don't show thinking ability.

Out of sheer laziness, most of my recent forts have been vegetarian. As a result, I've been using large numbers of animals to test out my entrance drowning chamber. So far they've helped me to make it more efficient, while also providing of a convenient disposal method that doesn't produce masses of refuse (I like to avoid atom-smashing). I'm still working on a magma-based corpse drain.

It's not a real PARTY until the queen has a baby, picks it up, kills two goblins by punching THROUGH THE SKULL with her remaining hand, and then finishes off half a barrel of fungus wine while still nursing.

Once again I am horrified by you, Bay12. But I'll laugh it off and go back to biting off breasts to cause my enemies to faint... Goddamn I'm evil sometimesmost of the time.

Groins do come off in vanilla though?

They don't have a groin in vanilla. Such body parts don't exist.

Too bad. If they're ever implemented, I'll definitely experiment on male goblin's pain sensitivity. In their... you know.

All genitalia are cosmetic bits added on by mods. That's the way I prefer it.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I'm still working on a magma-based corpse drain.
Put 'em on a minecart, dump them in the magma flow. With the right setup you can have a one-stop route that takes a pushed minecart to the track stop and returns it to its original position.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

catch peregrine falcons, get free food (eggs), no mass butchery of kittens required! Apart from your entire cat supply at the moment, seeing you don't need them if you have falcons.

Dear Urist McStockpileDrone
I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.
