On topic:
I will say this: Most of the people near my grade are complete and utter morons. For example, half of them don't even know how to pronounce anything above a third-grade level. The other half are lucky guesses, judging by how that act in other fields.
You realize of course how stuck up you are? How you're acting like you're the best thing in the world and that nobody around you is an actual person with actual limitations? I bet half of them have some serious shit going on at home that you don't even have a clue about, while you're sitting there all high and mighty sitting at home on your computer, confirming that you are, in fact, vastly superior to the environment around you and they don't warrant any consideration as human beings.
That last bit was pure, spiteful sarcasm, but I'm sure you picked that up since you're obviously so intelligent.

I'm sorry, please disregard my last two posts. I've been slightly sleep deprived and I've been having a bad day. I was feeling annoyed and felt the need to say something rude about somebody. They're actually all fairly decent people with about average intellect.

Ya'll need to chill the fuck out and go a bit easier on him. And he needs to go easier on them, but really. What's the point in belittling him when you can fucking teach him something instead?

I kinda feel the same as Hans.  I talked about my classmates similarly when I was in high school, but that was my response to being bullied and ostracized (not to mention statistical evidence that the general school population really was that stupid).  I still feel the same about many of them, just not quite as many as I did back then.  flameboy99 may just be dealing with some shit.

The fact of the matter is, no one is better than anyone else. Ever. Period. Fucking period, okay? I don't care how great you are. I'm a FANTASTIC fucking person. I still don't think I'm any better than anyone in this world. :x If you think someone is stupid, think of it this way instead: They are less equipped to deal with learning than you are, and they might need your help. You need to think that way, because one day, you might NEED their help. We're all humans, and we're all in this together, regardless of the petty bullshit fucking reasons we throw up to keep ourselves separate. Well, they're stupid. That sucks for them. You're stuck up and you need to humble yourself a bit, or you're just as weak as them. And you know what? I can't draw worth a shit. I can write you a beautiful novel, but I can't draw a fucking rock. Am I going to belittle you for not being a great writer? No. I'm going to praise you for being such a great artist, or for being smarter than me, or being humble. I'm going to fuck up sometime, and I can only hope that someone else is willing to be as forgiving as I am.

How do you say this? Can't we all get along, and try to understand instead of throwing up walls? Wouldn't that work better?

If someone is stupid, chances are it's because they either lack the capacity to learn or simply do not want to learn. Most highschool kids who are already completely stupid don't have a willingness to learn, and often never show that willingness for a long time if at all.

I agree up to the point that I get assaulted by someone for speaking in "bigger" words than them.  Past that point, I'll not feel bad at all for belittling their intelligence.

It is interesting just how attached we are to the idea of intelligence.
The very idea of being of 'average' intelligence is an insult, despite the fact that being average is ok, as most people are. Many people are so emotionally attached to the idea that they are above average that anything to the contrary is a personal slur.
I think it is because we understand our own thought process and motivations, but not always others. This makes us see ourselves as being more rational than many others, and we get used to that idea. We identify with it, and anything that challenges our identity is seen as an insult.

To elaborate:  I give people tons of leeway.  Even people with an unwillingness to learn, because I understand that there can be all kinds of issues behind that.  I am a very understanding person.  But there are extremes to everything where a boundary has to be drawn, and one extreme that many children unfortunately face is hostility for being perceived as smart.  Fuck that shit.  I put up with alienation and bullying from an entire community for 8 years because I was geeky, liked geeky things, spoke in big words, and wasn't christian.  Even if it isn't completely right, I can't blame anyone who has survived social abuse for allowing themselves to feel better than their abusers.

Once again, please disregard those posts. I was just having a terrible day, and I felt the need to take it out on someone. This just happened to be the easiest medium.

To be fair, it seems much of the "stupidity" of average people in high school is not a direct result of their intellect, but rather a lack of motivation to do anything above the minimum and barely scrape by.

"Study for the test? Nah, I'd rather update my Twitterbook and Instaface with my buddies for three hours and gossip about celebrities and other less important stuff."

"Actually do work in this class? Nah, this ten question worksheet about material we have in our notes is too much work. I'd rather text my beloved significant other about what illegal stuff we'll do at the party tonight."

Different priorities, different mentalities, different perspectives, different maturities. The question is whether any of these people believe they can actually get through a college the same way they're working through high school or if they're perfectly ok with graduating and working right off the bat. If they want to go to college and expect themselves to graduate through the same scraping-by then that's a sign of ignorance and naivety. Otherwise they probably know what they're doing, no matter how stupid it might seem to outside parties.

As an nerd in this modern world, I can say that Mr.Space Cat is pretty much correct.
Pretty much the only reason I don't have a lot of friends isn't because I'm "smarter" then my peers, but because I have niche interests.

I'm one of the least studious people I know and I still think that most people around me are irredeemably stupid. So I don't really think that's a factor.
