The Sad Thread D&D [3.5] Game (Waitlist Still Open)
« on: July 30, 2012, 12:39:40 pm »

Boom! I'm willing to help new players (and the DM) with mechanics and whatnot. I'm willing to mentor up to two games at once if two DMs wants to take a crack at it, but it would be easier if we kept it to one slightly-bloated party. We just need two things.

1. Someone willing to put in the creative efforts of a DM, who will as time goes on take on more of the mechanical responsibilities.
2. 2-10 players. SO.

The setting is up to the DM(s), the story is up to the DM(s), but for educational purposes, I would recommend standard character creation rules. (That is, using each classes' starting wealth, level 1, without flaws or traits, and 28 point buy, which will be explained later.)

Thread name subject to change.

Okay, I'll tentatively sign up for DM, and if that doesn't work out very well, a Player slot.

I should probably get started thinking up a campaign. :)

Alright! I thought it'd be a little harder to get someone to DM.

To anyone else who I didn't already send a PM to (IE: the natural citizens of FG&RP that weren't in the sad thread), you're welcome to join as well. With Western Marches out of commission for the time being, we need another gigantic low-level party extravaganza.

Naw I cannot play, internet shuts off after 11PM and I'll assume that nobody else here has a normal schedule.

I'm willing to play, although my schedule starts going bananas in late August.

Also, I'm going to need some idea of what to do to get started, since I pretty much have only the barest idea of what I'm doing here.

Yeah, I'm generally only free after nine or ten-ish or before noon.

I reeeeeally want to learn D20/3.5 but I keep wussying out. I guess I'll in as a player for whatever we end up doing. Will we just be using the core books?

After 15 August my schedule will tighten up significantly, so I have no idea what I'll be able to do around then.

Hopefully just the corebooks. I would be a bit overwhelmed to have to deal with Warforged's and Wild Wizards at level one.

Right. To keep things simple, here will be the allowed books for the first part. (Possibly expanded later.) The DM, of course, can pull monsters from anywhere, including out of his or her ass, at any moment. (I recommend the monster manuals I, II, and III. IV and V get ludicrous.)

Player's Handbook
Player's Handbook II

Dungeon Master's Guide
Dungeon Master's Guide II

PENDING REQUESTS:

Complete Arcane
Complete Mage
Complete Warrior
Complete Champion
Complete Divine
Complete Adventurer
Complete Scoundrel

Those books are fairly well balanced, and I'm really familiar with them, but to keep things simple, only request one thing at a time from them. (Say, a particular feat you found online, or a class, or a spell. I'd rather not blanket-allow the whole thing.) And please, no psionics for now. I've been playing for three years and I have yet to fully understand them and how they work with magic. We won't be getting into prestige classes for a while anyway, so we'll figure those out when we get there. (Earliest good ones becomes available at level 6 if you're really trying, most at level 8, 9, or 10.)

As for a time, we'll take a poll once we have a few more players. I forgot to take that into account, but it looks like Hanslanda is in American Central Time (GMT -6, I think), for reference. (Which means it may be difficult to make sessions from the other side of the world.) I would recommend Friday evenings, Sundays, or late afternoons on weekdays if everyone is open then. Morning games tend to have problems with people sleeping in, and they're hard to make for people who have jobs on the weekdays.

Nooo, not Fecal Elementals!

I've wanted to learn DnD as for some time as well. Depending on what time you end up playing, I'm interested in joining up.
