Looking to buy a new mouse.
« on: July 29, 2012, 08:53:25 am »

My old mouse is pretty much breaking, it loses connecting constantly, making gaming very hard.
(well, most games that i play, wich is minecraft and tf2 atm)
So could anybody recommend me a new model thats relatively affordable?

Requirements:
Wire. Unless the power usage is low enough that i will only need to replace them every few months or so.
2 mouse buttons and a pressable scrollweel, i dont want fancy stuff.

I'd like it to be around or under 25 euros.

EDIT:

Quickly please, before i smash this one trying to get it to work again :P

its a claw mouse so you will have to get use to it (supposedly it cuts down the carpal tunnel damage to your hand), i picked it up for easy $25, maybe you get lucky than me?

I'm in the US, so it might be a bit different, but if you want a cheap mouse...wouldn't it make more sense to simply go to a large computer store and buy a cheap, generic mouse rather than go shopping for a specific brand? Here, I can go to any large computer store and find mice for $5-$10. They typically last about a year.

Yeah, i could do that, i just want a few reccommendations.

Hmm, this one looks neat, but i have bad expiriences with the extra side buttons.
(computer at school, constantly accidently pressing them and going back a page)

I think i'll just follow Bucket's advice and go buy a generic one.

Thanks for the advice anyway!

You can find the SteelSeries Kinzu Optical for 199kr (23EUR) up here in the Northern Wastelands. The price should be fairly similar a little further down in Belgium.

It's nothing fancy, but it has all the essentials of comfort, sensor quality and build quality down quite well. It's advertised as being for "gamers", but in reality, it has very few of the gimmicks that one would normally associate with that type of branding. The aesthetics are muted and are described as "plain" by some, but I find it much better than the gaudy designs and profusion of shiny black plastic in typical "gamer" gear.

I recommend Cyborg Gaming's R.A.T. series of mice. I have a R.A.T. 5 and 9, both are incredably smooth and responsive, and with the adjustability you can guarentee they'll fit your hand regardless of how you like to hold them. They come with a program for easily setting keybindings as well, its very easy to use.

EDIT: They also look completely bad ass and are made of aircraft grade aluminium if I remember right. http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/rat9.htm

Hmm, both look nice, i may just have changed my mind about buying a "standard" one. the R.A.T. looks like it comes straight out of transformers tough.

The Kinzu Optical looks great. Just what i want. Durable and simple. And cheap.

Tough the shop wont let me put it in my cart D:
I'll try registering first.
Hmm, before i register, what are the payment methods?

The Razer ones are good, I have a Naga but used to use a Deathadder. Can probably pick one up for around 25 EUR

Pretty pleased with my Death Adder. So far hasn't had any of the scroll wheel issues that people mentioned was its biggest fault.

It's something like 122 euros anyway. ($149.99)

I recommend following LordBucket's or Briggsy/nenjin's advice. Going into the nearest store and getting the best-looking mouse in your price range will probably be the best, but the Death Adder sounds good from nenjin's previous descriptions. Unless you want something more from a mouse than 2-3 buttons and a scroll wheel.
