Zalgus scratched his chin. This was an odd place for an alchemist's shop; normally a balcony signified a greater structure. Hm...

Well, knowledge first, architectural quandaries later.

Failing that, walk through the nearest, non-trapped door.

You don't even need to tune. That blank, liftable door leads further into the keep, or tower, you're sure. You just need to muster the strength to lift it high enough to trigger whatever mechanic should hold it up. Or figure out another way past the door.

That looks like it'll be tough. Those shelves appear to be heavier than those in the library. Well, no matter. The way things are, you're rather out of reach.

Hhhhnnnggg. You manage to move the shelf a bit. You might be able to reach the book again, but you're not close enough to get it for certain.

The creatures shift a bit, and while it may be wishful thinking on Baradine's part, they seem uncomfortable. Baradine hopes it's the words.

Open door #2 (on the left).
You go to the liftable door and try to lift it.
Lift the door (1d6=5) <4, due pain>
Mustering all your strength, you lift the door up...
Shake-off (1d6=3)
...though that doesn't do your arms any favors...

...and you step in to lift the door further until you hear a strange sound and feel that the door is secured now somehow.

Rorrim: Utter a prayer to the recently known deity...then cleave path to Baradine. Attack anything that is attacking him, defend him if no hostiles are spotted.

Baradine: Diplomacy! Convince them to not attack and offer a way to repay them, perhaps? While doing so, check the area for other allies and how to get to them.

Trael gave a silent nod to Rorgrin, his 'eyes' already exploring the corridoor ahead as he strode towards it, sword held upright in a two-handed grip beside him. He moved faster, now. That delay had irritated him terribly; for a moment it felt almost like he was stuck, unable to continue. As long has he was moving fowards, onwards, inwards, it was something of a balm for his trapped soul.

Oh dear, Baradine is surrounded! Not just by the fire, but also by several insectoids. Clearly they must be hostile! Chaaaarge! You charge at one of the insectoids wielding a spear...
