Often debates on these topics aren't strictly about 'winning' but for the fence sitters, the lurkers. ggamer may very well be stuck in his archaic unsubstantiated views and unable or unwilling to drop them, buts not really about him.

I do understand. It's an excellent topic to debate because it's shaping the modern world right now, and I'm not trying to dissuade that. However, all too often around here I see these kinds of subjects very quickly become "attack threads" where people looking for a good debate are lost amidst the straight-up or veiled hate/insult posts.

It's a fine line and it's everyone's responsibility to walk it. Wait... no, that's not how that saying goes.

Okay, as much as I do dislike trying to direct a thread's discussion if I don't feel it's necessary, let's not make this thread a debate about whether or not people trying to debate ggamer were right to do so or went about it in the right way. He bowed out, whether or not you think it was graceful, and I think at this point it's taking the thread in an ugly direction.
