Cub Scout Camp/DF Similarities
« on: July 02, 2012, 03:47:29 pm »

After staffing a Cub Scout camp for a week, I noticed some similarities with DF:
1: You are dealing with crazy midgets that will do something stupid the minute you turn around.
2: Said midgets spend most of their time making useless crafts.
3: Useless nobles (The camp director is a bureaucratic bitch).
4: The people trying to control the midgets (staff) are also crazy(myself included).
5: They have strange moods.
6: They have a tendency to tantrum(The camp director's son is retarded and attacks anyone at the slightest provocation)

Any other insights that the community would like to add?

Do they have a tendency to ignore fire hazards?

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

I'm not your average Bay12er. I care about my drunken midgets.

...They create and revel in fire hazards.  I am shocked we didn't cause numerous wildfires when I was in scouts...

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

You didn't?  You were doing it wrong.

And as to the alchohol dependence, that was mostly us staffers in my experience.

9.  Take inordinately long breaks at the least convenient time.

10.  Have no natural understanding of an economy.

11. Even when set to a mandatory uniform, will frequently be missing pieces, usually the ones they need the most.

12.  Will become nauseaus if left in the sun too long.

13.  Break many arrows and gain negligible skill while practicing at an archery target.

Health and safety rules in general can be brushed up under the rug.
I remember when I was doing some assistant-leadering, the central pole of the mess tent collapsed.
So we propped it up with an upturned bench taped to a plastic box.

Our scout leaders were smart and kept us in the desert where any fire would be very isolated during dry years.

I volunteer to help at Cub Scout camp, even though I don't have any relatives in Cub Scouts. Let me tell you, they don't pay me NEARLY enough...

I'll count Graknorke's as #14.

#15. Any children kept around are annoying.
#16. A lot of the scouts seemed to be On Break.
#17. A good medical staff is important, but usually underworked. Thank God/Armok.

(thank god boy scouts isn't like this-I couldn't do it if it was) anyways,
18)They have a habit to avoid/ignore orders issued by the sometimes sane overseer
19)They will bite percieved enemys/go insane for no apparent reason(one of friends was randomly bitten by a cub scout-this isn't the norm, but dwarfy enough)
