the quantity of adamantine wafers needed for armouring has drastically increased? A breastplate requires 9 wafers! Was it the same in previous versions?

In previous versions the required materials were not being read correctly, and it always needed 1 bar/wafer.  That has been corrected, so it takes the correct amount of materials (e.g., 3 bars for a metal bin, 9 for a breastplate, etc).

It isn't 9 wafers for a metal bin? When wafers were working correctly the exchange rate was three wafers to one bar, and furniture requires three bars.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Honestly, I don't know for sure.  You could very well be right. ;)
