Castaway: Day 2
« on: June 11, 2012, 04:23:43 am »

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

   Day 0 | Midday | Summer 22nd | 1575 AD

Your head won't stop ringing.  You open your eyes slowly and are struck by a bright light, your mouth taste of salt and sand.  You roll yourself off your stomach and stare at the clear blue sky above you, the opposite of the storm which had struck before you were cast off your vessel, The Ramona.  You are surprised to awake on land, as there were no known bodies within 500 leagues of were your ship was last at.  You stand yourself up and take a look at your surroundings, to your south is the ocean, to your east and west are more beach, and to your north is a forest, not unlike those of your home country of Caldaria.

Your clothes are soaked, and you seemed to have lost your hat, however your trusty knife is still connected to your belt.  You are hungry and thirsty, as well as tired since sleeping on the sand after being tossed by the ocean isn't the most rejuvenating slumber.

It is midday, what do you do?

Wash sand out of face and hair. From the water's edge, look along the beach and edge of forest in both directions for anything that stands out: debris, wreckage, buildings, rampaging grizzly bears, whatever.

if we don't see anything apart from sand, water and trees, then first remove all clothes. Squeeze water out of them. Wash feet, put clothes back on, careful to keep sand out of socks. Then head into the forest a few dozen yards and start looking for anything useful or edible. Fruit may be a suitable substitute for water.

Let's go to the forest and hunt villagers. After all, we've got a knife.

We don't have socks. Maybe we'll get blisters later or this is an oversight.

What's more troubling is the NONE under skills does this preclude climbing trees?
swimming? Caldarian Folk dance? Nautical navigation? (certainly would explain a lot)
If we took off our clothes would we be able to put them on? Are we capable of walking? Intelligible speech?
We can't have NO SKILLS can we?

He's got a point.

I say venture into the woods and gather branches, twigs and dry leaves to build a fire. Find and (try to) kill small game--like rabbits--with your knife. Then, once you have enough energy, attempt to swim to your ship and scavenge anything you can bring back, like
Guns, powder and shot. (MUST BE KEPT DRY)
Food, like bread, salted meat, hardtack, etc.
     WATER IS A MUST.
Other weapons, such as swords, axes, etc. (the axes can be used to chop down trees)
Planks from the ship, for building stuff like a house, walls, and a boat or raft to transport all of that crap back.

See if he's really  dead, if yes, Seamansgrave. While looting him might be usefull, I don't think we should.

-Gather more wreckage, preferably wood.
-Look for food and water
-attempt to construct a provisoiry shelter

You've found some branches.

- Place them down someplace you can find them again.
- Search for planks
- If you DO find any planks, go to the ship and scavenge for supplies like
  - Food and water IS A MUST.
  - Guns, powder and shot; they can help you hunt. (MUST BE KEPT DRY)
  - Other weapons, such as swords, axes, etc. (axes can be used to cut down trees)
  - More planks, and hammers and nails to build rafts, walls, perhaps a small shack.
- If you DO NOT find any planks, go into the woods and forage/hunt for something edible.

Check to see if the man is definitely dead. If so, butcher and cook on a fire made from the branches.
