Next On The Dev List!

Anyone else think this could be another year-long but awesome release?

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

It Really sounds like it will make this game come even more alive. So totally worth it. I was wondering what the next big update would be, and this blew my expectations out of the water.

It will surely breath some more life in the "adventure mode", which needs it badly. And it will probably be a good thing for Fortress mode, too. But I wouldn't have minded another round of bugfixing before moving forward. There are still several issues (although the most bothersome are gone, I think) that are mildly annoying.

Well, If Toady could still dedicate some time to bugfixing while working on this release it would be awesome, perhaps 3 weeks / 1 week.
A lot of things right now that are either bothersome or very frustrating.

The length of the release entirely depends on whether features are released individually or in bulk, and how long it takes to work on the individual features. From experience it takes a month or two to get each feature done, including the bugfix releases that usually follow.

Given current events, I've altered my profile pic and I'm sorry it took so long to fix. If you find the old one on any of my accounts elsewhere on the internet, let me know by message (along with the specific site) and I'll fix. Can't link the revised avatar for some reason.

The blurb on the main page was gripping. Really looking forward to this. Especially if things like bands of brigands try harassing a fledgling fort in its early years or powerful people within entities possibly stirring things up in fortress mode. This update has such potential! I don't care how long it takes.

Well, I, for one, am ready for another 40d-to-0.31 scale wait, with daily feature list checks.

Even if we have to wait a year again, it'll be worth it.

Gota love how game critics made Fallout 3 to be the best story of the last 10 years and to be fair its pretty fun. But Dwarf fortress is in a totally different league, AAA+ Devs could really learn something from this. Thank the Toady One for innovative game play.

^^^ huh??

I would had liked a few bug more bug fixing releases but I can't really complain much. Hopefully Toady will switch to a rapid release model so new features can be tested and fixed earlier. I don't play adventure mode so these changes don't interest me much but I hope they affect Fortress mode too so that we get more ways to interact with other entities (other than killing their endless siege waves).
