It's quiet in my fort.
« on: June 05, 2012, 06:28:30 am »

Maybe too quiet...

Those gobbies are planning something, I know it.

So my question is can multiple ambushes come at the same time if they cease to for a while? I've had 2 ambushes simultaneously (bitches killed my liaison too) but is there like a limit to the thing? Because I am sure that 180k created wealth is enough for an ambush. And considering I only have 13 dwarves, I believe they should be puring in...

On another note, it's my sixth year and still no marriages. Bunch of lovers but no marriages. Any suggestions?

AFAIK, relationship upgrades usually happen to idle dwarves.

So, stop all work and throw an Impending Goblin Doom Is Sexy party in the dining room?

They keep spamming parties in my legendary dining room and I never cancel them. So I just keep waiting...

Yes, multiple ambushes can come at same time. It's even quite common.

Once I had nice fort, living its fifth year. There was no any kobold or goblin thief or ambush for, like, 3/4 years.

Then, at same time with Dwarven caravan.

Goblin ambush. Another one.
Elven siege. And more goblins. And some more elves.
I could swear they had planned to strike at same time!

I spent a while trying to get a fort started with one married couple.  What I learned is similar to what Tirion suggested here, the busier the dwarves are the longer it takes them to marry.  However, it didn't seem to be the activity itself that causes the problem, rather the separation.  Dwarves that were busy working together in the same room would marry sooner than lovers who were separated all the time because one was working outside building a wall for several years.

I've had several reproduction-sourced children by spring of the second year with no marriages, so it looks like it can be random.

Reproduction-sourced.  How funny.  I mean as opposed to Mountainhome dumping them off on your doorstep :)

An ambush!  Curse them!
An ambush!  Curse them!
An ambush!  What the hell?
An ambush!  Oh come on, now.
An ambush!  You guys are just fucking with me. :(

Really, are you sure?  I've never seen children born to unmarried couples.

I expect they were born to dwarves who were married when they arrived at the fort. Always happens to me. A few families migrate, and bang, child-boom.
