And who watches the watchman?
The dogs, of course.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Nobody ever said Uplink was realistic, but there were lots of people who enjoyed it. I hope they can bring the best of both worlds to Mr. Vigilante Hacker's phone, battery life excluded.

Then again, that may make an interesting plot point; (I'm probably abusing this semicolon) a mission where you run out of battery power and have to carry out a plan or escape from something with only your wits (and gun and baton and non phone gadgets).
Well I just hope they can find the balance between fun and realistic. I just wanna cause CHAOS with my smartphone! I certainly don't want to see a "you must hack this and it's not gonna do anything, that's just what plot demands". Hacking itself may be boring but not being able to bring the world down with a smartphone is unacceptable!

New video's in, showing off a bunch of free roaming scenes. We don't get anything on the central story, which I'm just fine with. If it's good, I don't want it spoiled. If it's bad, I don't want it drawing attention from the more entertaining aspects of the game.

There's a lot of cues taken from some of the recent games. The part where he takes over the data place reminded me a bit of AC3's base capturing, and I'm not surprised (or disappointed) to see that you can't simple run around and hack everything right off the bat, if it is indeed for actually gaining access to an area's systems. The take downs seemed to be solely lethal (Note the Enemy Killed notification on the top right), and there weren't any nonlethal weapons on display in the stores, so no hints as to whether you'll be able to play Batman and try to minimize casualties. The chase scene was straight out of GTA, but with some toys to slow down the cops and get them off of your tail.

Some new things I saw: You can hack into people's computers and watch them in their own homes, which is both creepy and cool. The part where the store owner sees your face on TV, presses a panic button and causes a chase was a nice surprise. There won't be any GTA-esque lack of consequences for committing crimes. I'll call it right now, though: There'll be a way to hack into systems and delete evidence you leave behind, so there may not be any permanent identity crises consequences. Hopefully it'll be challenging to do, and hopefully there will be some consequences you can't deal with so easily, such as a more alert police force, but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Overall, the world looks like one of the more vibrant and alive we've seen in a triple-A game for some time. There's obviously been a lot of world building, and I love the little details that they put in, like the occupations people have, their income, and bits of their official history.

Looks pretty fun.

He even has it in his hand when doing the strangling.
So it's either that there's seperate lethal and non-lethal combat options; or it was an issue with the display not differentiating between kills and takedowns.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

There's a central computer that runs the city and gathers data on the citizens from databases and their internet habits. This data was going to be used to predict crimes and assist policing but Aiden Pearce got into it before the police thing was set up properly and is using it to for vigilantism.

I'd guess that once he got into ctOS the rest is just using the tools that were already there.

The 6th formers at my school had a fancy dress day today. Generally film characters.
But one guy came in as Aiden. He had the trenchcoat, sweet hat, bandana. Pretty good getup.

And he didn't get jumped by school security? That is impressive.

You must be growing up in a more innocent part of the world. In my old school, we had a small area that was basically a mini police station, and anything that could be remotely affiliated with gangs or violence was banned, especially bandannas, head wear, and trench coats. We also had a to wear red or white shirts as part of our uniform. The wannabe crips were not amused.

Basically that. Trenchcoats at school here tend to get you in trouble.

6th formers are the ones doing Alevels, and since most of them aren't even in for the full school day every day they don't have to wear uniform. Or maybe it's just because nobody wants to make adult-sized school uniforms. Who knows.
And in the school I go to crime in school is pretty much unheard of. The worst that happens ever is bullying (arguably harassment) and sometimes petty items go missing. I don't think I've ever heard of a case where it didn't get willingly returned. Even in the schools where it is worse though, I don't think that security like that would be allowed in the UK. It's just not a thing that happens.
