Thoroughly impressed!

I knew who the villain was going to be the moment they explained Turbo's backstory, but past that I didn't really predict all that much.

Mildly disappointed there was a "despair" point, but it wasn't horribly cliche so it was forgivable.

Legitimately teared up at a few points.

Sad but true. I saw the Avengers on my friend's home computer long before it was released, and it looked and sounded really good.

Copies get leaked from the hundreds of people working on it. Or, they have a virus on their computer. Wow, that would be a really good target for hackers. Huh.

One of my friends had it about three hours after theatre release. It was DVD quality, so pretty much either a copied theater disk, a leaked copy, or a hacker.

Just watched Brave.

Verdict: Not bad. Not great, not horrible, but not bad.

Brave is weirdly titled. And I think the most striking feat of animation with brave, is the mom turning from being human to a bear.

Actually, it was just plain amazing-looking in general.
The initial plotline was actually interesting.

Oh yeah, the animation was pretty damn awesome all around.

I suppose I should say I was impressed with a few plot points. Namely, the evil queen wasn't evil. I also liked how it was her that dispatched the bad guy (though they could've played up the "mother protecting her child" thing a bit more).

I guess I just didn't connect with any of the characters. The king guy was pretty awesome but he didn't have all that much screentime. Main character girl was... adequate, but not really all that interesting. The mother was perhaps the most interesting once she went bear, but with zero lines it kinda stifled her character development.

Much of the symbolism failed at being symbolism because they pointed it out too much (like the cut tapestry).


Really I feel the strongest part of the story was the queen, but she wasn't focused enough, and instead the story revolved around what's her face princess who's only adequate as a lead character.
