« on: May 30, 2012, 11:40:26 pm »

I just found out about this game, It kinda reminds me of minecraft except Realistic Physic and The main Char looks like Master Chief.
Its like an RTS and FPS.
It has 2 gamemodes Survival and Fort Wars.

Looks like it is cool already.

Also, I have to be honest and say this topic doesn't do the game justice. Seriously, watch the trailer. This looks absolutely amazing. I was about to make a topic myself, actually, but since we have this one... :P

I think there was a Terraria in there too.

Looks cool, though I've never been a fan of Futuristic FPSes I'll still definitely check it out.

It's pretty farking amazing!!!! I'm worried. My productivity has already suffered a lot lately due to decent games.

It does look interesting. I have far too many games and projects on the go at the moment, but I shall be following it's progress closely.

Holy mother of god. This looks like the best thing ever. It's sooowww pwetty.

I have only two very small nit-picks to make.
First: it needs a "free-fall" animation when falling froom a decent hight, right now he sorta runs on the spot and kicks his legs oddly. I'm sure that will be added.
Second: the rate at which blocks are built. They should "phase in" with some sort of particule affect (explain it's nanobots or some other technobabble), seems a tiny bit imersion breaking when you have all those great physics and graphics.

And this is the reason why I play almost nothing but Indie games these days.
The voxel revoultion is much better than the 3D revoultion.

Very impressive!
I like how the built structures change depending on contact with other blocks, like the little angle at the base of the pillars.

I wonder what kind of computer this demo was recorded on, if this works on a modest setup I'd be even more impressed.

Funny you should say that, given that there's not a single voxel in that game as far as I can tell.

I am almost certain the terrain is voxel based.

They say that a few times in the video, but to me it looks like it's made of polygons. I think they might be referring to that block-building system, but the thing to understand there is that a cube made of polygons ≠ a voxel.

Edit: Right, so it's finished downloading and I've played around a bit with the terrain tool. It's definitely polygons, not voxels.

But...they're just blatantly voxels.  You may as well argue that the game is called Portal.

E: What exactly do you think voxels are?

A voxel is the 3D equivalent of a pixel. It can't have textures on it, you can't rotate it, it can't have stuff growing out of it, you can't apply shading to it, and you can't move it. It's a point in space, typically represented as a cube that's a single color and that sits in a single place within the 3D space.
