Werebeast companions?
« on: May 25, 2012, 12:24:29 pm »

I've yet to successfully become a werebeast (can't survive to the first full moon :P) but I have a question for when I do:

Once you're a werebeast, is it possible to infect your followers and have them become werebeasts as well without turning them hostile? I know werebeasts are "on the same side" as others of the same species, and theoretically everyone would transform at the same time. However, it would involve biting your companions which I assume might make them decide they don't like your company while in human form...

Has anyone experimented with this? I'd love to command a whole herd of bloodthirsty weregoats.

uhh attacking someone will make them hostile no matter what(either were or otherwise). The only way to do so is by having a mod that makes turning others a safe nonhostile interaction or killing and reanimating their bodies into werebeast but then their totally new creatures and not the same companions.

Werebeast alliance would theoretically work. I tried using an interaction to transform allies into bronze golems with miniguns for arms a few versions back, and they still retained their allegiances and knew their old race.

However, if you polymorph a creature into something that has [OPPOSED_TO_LIFE], let's just say things will become interesting.

That said, if you can get a werebeast to bite (not you) an ally, and wait a while, then maybe that might work.

Oh, and biting or harming allies yourself would make them hate you.

Companions will all be hostile to you in wereform, even undead ones that you animated yourself. But if you try to have a friendly bite, their entire civilization will hate you.

If you start as an outsider adventurer, I could see it possible to recruit other were-beasts of the same kind.

I once attacked a werebeast with a band of merry men. A couple of the soldiers got killed while another got bitten. Fast traveling to town, that one who got bit turned into a werebeast and immediately became hostile to all around him. The next one to get bit also became hostile, as did the next one, and the one after that. Most likely, unless perhaps you AND your companions get bit and survived the encounter, you won't find any friendship occurring.

I came across two turned werebeasts fighting over a lair once in an adventure game.  Got a bunch of licks in because they were too busy fighting each other to care about me.  Eventually the werebear took a swipe at me and I decided to leave well enough alone.

So no, there's no natural esprit de loup garou.  Even if you both got bit by the same beast and turned at the same time, they'd probably just end up attacking you.

IIRC, I think werecreatures get the [CRAZED] tag when they transform, hence the hostilities. I totally forgot about that, btw.

Were they the same type of werebeast? Werebeasts of the same species don't attack each other

Yarr, werebeasts just kill everything, they don't get along with each other.  But for reference, I can confirm that a werebeast's bite can transform an ally.

The ally will change after you travel away from the lair, which makes for a fun trip to the market.
