Do multiple teachers stack?
« on: May 25, 2012, 08:18:50 am »

Does having two liberals teaching dodging teach the skill twice as fast? Would having all members of my combat squad teaching at once get new recruits skills up faster?

Short answer: Yes 8)

Little longer one:
Depends on the difference between teaching and dodging skill of your combatants and your students.
Each teacher can teach any valid student to that level of the skill that is either teachers skill-1 or teacher's teaching skill+2, assuming that the student has high enough base stat.
However, if a teacher has more than ten valid students per skill, teaching speed slows down. Teachers teach also each other, so the combatant who has most skill, e.g. dodge, would teach the other teachers how to teach dodging better as their dodging would also rise.

It's quite satisfying to watch your students get 5+ random skill levels per day :)

To make sure this is understood correctly, if either teaching skill is too low, or the skill being taught is too low, the teacher won't be able to instruct the student. Teaching someone up to level 4 in a skill, for example, not only requires the teacher to have at least level 5 mastery of the subject, but also to have a teaching skill of 2 or better. Teaching exercises the teaching skill though, so it's likely the teacher's teaching skill will grow fast enough to keep up with the student's need for quality instruction. High teaching skill will also accelerate instruction of any future students, thereby reducing the cost of later teaching indirectly (since it will complete faster).

Nice. This inspires me to do some wicked cross-teaching and then follow it with some mass teaching by the teachers who just taught each other. It's annoying to see taught skills climb so slowly, a little boost would be cheerful to see.
