[Yeah, Cog Wrathhammer is from another DF world, but no-one knows that yet.  He just assumes he's been asleep for a while and transported to another land.  Gizogin/Gizo X doesn't know enough about the land to have picked up on it.]

Ergo, he probably wouldn't have that much influence with our king.

[2-3 months? :D

If Zannie is going to royally screw us, I'm sure we'd all rather have the defenses ready, including artillary pieces, self-repairing magma/water checkerboard walls underground, and trained warriors of all disciplines. If the mayor would be so kind as to request the mountainhomes send us an army... We need more than just a month.]

Just for that, I'll wait until things are even more critical.  If you knew what it was, you would know that none of that would matter, and would probably work against you.

[Yup.  Gizogin asked him anyway, and thinks that it's going to help, even though it won't.]

My original plan had be to do 2 skips in quick succession, but that might cause confusion/jumping-the-gun.

All I can say is, someone else better not be planning something after the time-skip to devastate the fort, because what I am planning may require another time-skip afterwards just so you can recover from it.

That's kind of what I was planning on. 2 weeks to get back on our feet, then whatever doomy thing you throw at us, then a month or so. Just try and keep it below the CW Hugo level of destruction. I'm saving stuff on that scale for "season finale" things if you know what I mean.

I might... depends on how far I want to go due to eric's insult...

By the way, is there going to be a new thread with basically a complete restart (ie. beginning of the old thread) after the 'season finale,' or are we just going to end this?

Oh no, I wouldn't worry about "season finale" for a long, long time if I were you. I've still got a lot of uncashed plot coupons, and other people have their own plot threads as well. I have a feeling that after the impending disaster, in story, your reputation with the others at the fort will be forever and irrevocably tarnished for being seen as bringing down a lot of trouble on our heads. So that is an interesting plot development that could be explored.

To finish up with the whole ancient ruin subplot, though, we have to find the very very interesting thing at the other tower. I think that it might just finally happen today. Then we can time-skip. It's something that might alter other people's plans a bit, which is why I wanted to get it out of the way before the timeskip.

Just taking a glance at the old thread to see how far away this one is from passing it (20 pages), I have to ask, whatever happened to the minecart and tracks that brought us here from the old place?  And the oliolli-berry extract?  And the Dalekanium in weird's old suit?

And the ocarina of time? I've got the minecart sequestered somewhere where no one can reach it, not even me now. The tracks do not exist, they are created by the minecart as it travels and disappear behind it. Ask wierd about the Dalekanium, he might have thrown it out. I don't think there was much of it.

[Tracks that appear before a cart and disappear behind it are caterpillar tracks. :P]

So it's going to be a case of "rock falls, everyone dies", and you're not even going to be kind enough to let us murder the living fuck out of the bloody dragons and everything? You're a horrible person.

I actually want to uplaod a blueprint of the finished tower for this. i had a fort going and was building it in-game, but got interrupted, so I'll have to continue with that/cheat with DFhack.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Don't forget the actual minecart tracks that I used to escape with the dwarves and kobold populations. They weren't the ones you guys had, but they were part of the normal minecart system, that led outside and away form the fortress, but stopped shortly thereafter. I guess... I'm not really clear on all this anyway. It all made no sense to me at the time.

It was a time-space minecart pulled out of thin air (aka your ass). It used weird astral tracks, which were actually a visual representation of time and space seen from the outside, not real tracks. The magic made it appear that way to avoid melting your mind. The normal tracks certainly wouldn't have been long enough, as we didn't dig out under the sea floor and abyssal plain (the incredibly deep, vast flat of mud at the bottom of intercontinental waters) to the other continent.

And as the de-facto lead writer (or GM, or whatever), I reserve the exclusive right to "rocks fall, everyone dies." :D
Not that I'd want to use it, though. Killing the RP for everyone would be just... wrong somehow.

:D  If only you knew eric.  If only you knew.  :D

Don't worry, it won't be rocks fall, everybody dies.  It will be closer to rocks fall, forumites are the only ones left.  It will be a suprise.
