Sorry guys, long weekend here so no graphics but I'll type up some updates.

The night begins to seep into your clearing of trampled grass as crawlers begin work on a simple smelter.
It is built of a few blast furnaces hooked up to the generator. It takes all of the stone blocks stockpiled and the crawlers work hard throughout the night. The intricices such as the heatsource and power cables required the tiny amount of carbon you had.
As the sun rises the shadow of the furnace casts itself over the quarry which it stands tall beside.

The young crawlers seem proud of their first completed construction as they return to their previous jobs.

The sun rises over the jungle and the crawlers continue their work. They continue following the slight ore vein. A few express worries it may end soon.
All the stoned mined is cut as they move along and the foundation is laid adjacent to the smelter.

A few crawlers go to the edge of the forest and cut a tree down. They burn and collect the carbon into blocks and add it to the stockpile.

A good amount of a metal is smelted into blocks and ready for basic pouring.

To the west a few crawlers are playing with a rock. A large quadreped releases a howl and bursts from the bush. The crawlers give visual feed back and height estimates. It is approx. 4x the height of a crawler and very musular. It bears its large teeth and snarls..
The crawlers panic and line up. The two parties are standing still observing each other.

The large beast stands on the edge of the clearing, its large hind legs cocked. Crawlers flood from the mines and the refineries and form up a line between it and the mine. It rears up onto its hind legs and releases a deep roar. You can feel their fear through the network. The crawlers insight fall over and play dead while several move around to the flanks. It drops back down and the ground thunders as it fore paws slam down. It lowers its head and charges the crawlers playing dead.

Due to the quick speed of the network, the crawlers playing dead still have visual feed of the beast as it charges. Several crawlers roll over and prime their legs for a jump. The flanking crawlers dive at the beast with their mandibles hot but are knocked back as the hide is far to tough to grab on. The beast thunders towards the centre crawler. The crawler watches through its visual feed as it bears down right on top of itself. With perfectly precise calculations the crawler launches itself upwards, grabbing the underside of the jaw and digging in with its mandible.

The beast howls with agony and trips on its front legs as it falls sliding to a stop. The crawlers converge and flip the beast unpinning the original crawler, it has damaged one of its eight legs.

The beast is left in its place and the crawlers return to working on the factory. Several assembly arms are finished along with re-sizable molds. The factory does not require much more work.

-Try to get factory finished.
-Several crawlers get more trees. We can use these to build a small wall or as fuel.
-Continue mining

The factory is finished! The insides are a combination of multi-tooled arms and several molds, rollers and presses. The completion of the factory has drained all of your useful resources stopping you from continuing building. A basic crawler could be repaired in the factory as it has no advanced parts.

A small pack of crawlers go to the edge of the forest and begin cutting trees down. Many trees are taken down, a few are processed into carbon - which is a building block for most stuff - and stockpiled while the rest are dragged closer to the mine and lined up as a low perimeter fence.

The remaining crawlers head for the mine and refinery. Many go down to dig while others lug the ore and stone to the surface. The night is coming and there is no moon to be seen. The night will be significantly darker then normal. The smelting of the refinery is automated and glows with molten metal as the sun falls.

You take it upon yourself to research the beast. You make incisions and try to cut through the hide in a systematic way determining weak spots. A few are found. The sides and belly are strong, but a weak ridge runs along its back spine and its throat. After finishing you realize you missed research and engineering, your obviously capable of greater thinking then the crawlers you command.

A few crawlers take posts upon the log fence as the night encroaches on your clearing, they have difficulty seeing in the pitch black night beyond their own small lights.
