You decide some reworking of your programming is in order. You drift off to sleep..
Code: [Select]
Re-prioritizing objectives complete..
Delete all directives complete..
Insert new directive "Survive"..
You awake sometime later. You have decided to disobey your countries orders and you know they won't be pleased.
You feel the needs of your minions through the comm link. They are asking for directions..

The crawlers report their mandibles are capable of resource manipulation(digging/cutting/melting) and basic constructions. Anything finer will require modifications. You scan yourself and find you the same as your crawlers.

A crawler scurries over to the generator, gracefully climbs on top then disappears inside. Soon after a network ping reports the nuclear generator is online. Several crawlers move over to the generator and begin charging.

Half the pack spread out and face away from your position. A visual feed comes back to your in a panoramic view. The forest beyond your clearing is dense. The leaves are broad and the undergrowth is just as thick. The ground around you is soft and covered in trampled and burnt grass.

Several crawlers begin digging with their forelegs while others move the dirt to the perimeter of the qaurry.
Soon there are almost ten of them on the inside, while several more pack down the soil wall.
The crawlers progress is quick through soil but the ground is beginning to harden. As they become drained from digging they exchange places with those who are already charged.

After close examination it seems the generator is scalable, it can feed your numbers for many years or it can supply other things which increase the fuel consumption rate.

One of your crawlers pings an alarm that it has detected motion in the distance. Several more converge on the original one, they form a line facing into the forest..

Half the pack of crawlers are now inside the quarry. They are making good progress through the rock by melting carryable chucks from the floor. A large pile has been deposited outside the soil mound. The quarry looks similar to an ants nest, except you hear the metalic thud of the spiders legs as they clamber around inside and a orange glow lights the sky above.

Several crawlers are refining the rocks in their mandibles. There is an erie glow in the night as they drip with molten rock as they collect blocks of solid carbon, glass, and small amounts of several other useful compounds. As they begin storing the materials in the containers, several nuclear fuel rods have been discovered to have been brought on the voyage from Earth.

The rest continue to keep watch into the forest throughout the night, though nothing else is heard - other then what you can assume is normal jungle sounds..

Bump..
No one interested in AI robots fighting on another planet?
Would people be more interested in a medieval one?

Nevermind then, update here!

The work on the quarry continues at a slower pace as the crawlers continue to dig deeper. They ping across the network the discovery of some metallic ore..
The group of crawlers refining the stone stop and begin cutting them into blocks. A few piles are finished as the day comes to an end.

The sun goes down and the same crawlers as the night before begin watch into the tree line..
A few crawlers begin playfully wrestling while keeping watch.

Updating Blueprints..
It appears many blueprints designed by humans exist within your database. A few facilities are available, they range from refineries, to crawler factories (forges). Schematics of the inner workings of the nuclear generator detailing repair.
Beyond buildings there are also several other incomplete designs detailing locomotion based on tracked, wheeled, quadrupedal, and bipedal. Along with that several basic modifications to crawlers are found, some designs include high capacitors (larger times before recharging), digging specific implements and there is a basic shock based defensive attachment.

You determine there is always room for improvement upon all human designs..
