As promised, I embarked upon a voyage of discovery. A voyage of iron!
We were closer to Dhirim, so that is where I headed to first. The map told me nothing, but I've played enough of this mod to know roughly where it was located. On the way, I found a band of looters, and thought to boost my fame a bit by defeating them.
But in Rigale, blindly chasing foes can lead to problems:
Since I was fighting on foot, the ambush was not a problem. One looter sought to flee, but nobody leaves the party early!
Sadly, my aim is still poor, and he did indeed flee successfully. But I hurt him, that is for sure!
Rigale lesson time: In Rigale, ammo depletes as you use it. So for example, I started with 40 arrows. I then shoot 10 in battle. In my next battle, I will only have 30 arrows. So, it's best not to waste ammo in Rigale. Thankfully, it is possible to craft ammo, and craft it quite well. A skilled woodcarver can make bodkin arrows with a +9 modifier!
Back to the task at hand. I arrived at Dhirim, but they also were suffering from an epidemic. So, I decided to help out, as I really wanted to see what they had. After several days of warning people and burying the dead, the epidemic ceased, and I was finally able to see the inside of a town again.
Guilds at Dhirim:
On the way, I got lost in the woods. In Rigale, stay out of the woods! When (not if) you get lost, you're greatly reduced in speed.
Finally, I arrived at Curaw. In my game, Iron seems to be cheap in Curaw:
I also met my first companion!
Firentis wanted to ride with us as pentiance for killing his brother. I guess working for the likes of me without fee would be enough of a burden to absolve most crimes. I immediately told him to head out and tell the world that I should be their king. The fool did so at once. I love newbie companions!
