Fallout: New Vegas Mod Suggestions
« on: April 30, 2012, 12:17:17 pm »

Making a new thread since I couldn't find any dedicated New Vegas thread.

Anyway. I bought the "ultimate" version some time ago and thought I'd sit down and give it a replay with all the unplayed DLCs today. I went looking through the Nexus for mods, but there's just so damn many of them! So, what mods are you people using/did you use? I'm looking mainly for UI and survival mods, but is also interested in item-related stuff if it fits the universe.

"Realistic Health" the hardcore version "Fallout-The New FPS". Bullets KILL.

Nothing else really matters.

Project Nevada
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/40040

Darnified UI
http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1143482-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-nv/

I think these two are must-have. Other good ones are oHud, Electro-city, Weapon mod expansion, Quick trade and CASM with MCM. Look them up on NV Nexus.

Speaking of which, is there any new equivalent of the Community Bugfix Compilation? I heard there was some drama with the old one and it got removed.

Another question, as well: Which one is better, the Nexus Mod Manager or the Fallout Mod Manager?

I've never used Nexus Mod Manager, but it seems tied with the Nexus site, so you can download the mods with the Mod Manager without having to surf the site. I guess it's better for you.

Fallout Mod Manager is what I use though, and it's good enough.

I find this underground home to be better in terms of utility, plus it has support for DLCs too! (weapon racks, rack where you can put Dead Money's [REDACTED]...)

Also, adding a +1 to Project Nevada, because it adds nightvision, heat vision and generally turns new vegas into a better FPS, as well as new locations.

Another thanks. Better than what, though? The hotel room?

Derp. I thought I fixed that while editing.

Anyway, better than most house mods, and better than the default suite, if you like vault aesthetics.

Also, I remember using this mod to circumvent the casino bans. You might like it if you find gambling bans to be annoying. Does not have support for Dead Money, however.

This one gives almost all weapons three addons, which is great since the addon system was not fully utilized in the vanilla game.

This one is a pretty good UI mod. It doesn't change the UI fundamentally, but makes it a lot more PC-friendly by decreasing font sizes and increasing list sizes.

I never had that many mods for NV, so I don't know about any of the bigger mods, but I suggest you get some graphic mod to remove the weird vanilla brown tint. I used this one, but you can probably get something more fancy if you look around the nexus for a bit.

Thanks, looking it through. I quite like the brown tint, but it's bookmarked in case I would get tired of it anyway. Your first link is broken (or missing rather ;)) though.

I'd say Fallout mod manager is better at the moment, but it's no longer updated. And the only reason it's better is because Nexus mod manager is still so new in development.

Best would probably be to start using Nexus manager right away. It still does the trick just the same, and is actively being updated.

Speaking of which, is there any new equivalent of the Community Bugfix Compilation? I heard there was some drama with the old one and it got removed.

Here's one. Although it's not perfect, it's updated pretty often.
