Lars became visibly excited when the Joker leader entered his room.  "Saint Milno!  I am honored by your presence!  Truly Steve smiles on this day."

He beamed even more when Milno asked his question.  "Oh, I am beyond honored to have been a vessel for the holy will of Steve.  I only hope that my body was able to handle the glory well enough to serve the mission sufficiently."  Lars looked down momentarily.  "I suppose the flesh is weak, but my spirit survived.  I serve on in whatever capacity I am able."

Milno doesn't even try to correct Lars, satisfied with just leaving Lars content. Calling him a Saint had never done him any harm anyway and as long as the crazy preacher didn't try to murder him so he could ascend and join Steve or something he'd be fine. "Lars, you've been doing a great job. How are things for you aside from the last mission's events? Been happy, I suppose."

He has to admit sometimes he wonders why Lars seems happier than anyone else and if that joy is genuine. It seems madness, but it might as well be because the older man thinks he's found his life's purpose and is following it.

Lars beamed at the praise from the saint.  While mortal recognition meant little to him, Saint Milno was barely mortal at this point; his legends only grew.  "I am honored by your words.  Oh, I am doing well; this gives me time to stop and reflect on holy words."  He waved his wristpad as an indication.  "How about yourself?  Are your holy missions from Steve going well?  The ones you can talk about, of course."

"Pretty much a pile of shit. Sat out on the last one to see if the new team I assembled can get a mission done on their own." Milno replies, stretching his arms. "And Rookie's dead too, got involved in some magic event in the briefing room."

Mycroft wanders up to the conversation between Milno and Lars.  He appears to take any oddities in appearance in stride.  For now, at least.
"...Hello."

"Hello." Milno turns his head slightly to the side to stare at the newcomer. He notices the new arrival is a newbie - or at least looks like one. "Got lost?"

"As lost as one can be with no real place to go."

"Oh." Flint said as he realised his misunderstanding.
"Ooh." he added a bit louder as he considered what that meant.
I'm no stranger to leaving 'home'.
"I understand that. Well, I don't understand. I don't know and can't imagine what you've been through. I understand what you want to say."
He slowly extended his hand a bit towards her with his fist closed. Not too far, he kept it close to his body, but he left it there as a gesture. He wasn't sure what exactly it was supposed to mean but he hoped it helped.
"But you feel better here, right?"

"As lost as one can be with no real place to go."

Milno stares at the man for a while, his eyes impossible to be seen through the metal faceplate of his helmet. "You trying to sound poetic or being literal? This place is for the people who didn't have their head crack open like a rotten egg during a mission and could still be salvaged, or you can find people like me who are visiting one of the bastards who managed to survive. I'm Milno."

"A bit of both.  I just woke up,  have no idea where I am, and haven't had any real orientation or anything.  Mycroft, Mike for short. I take it that this is some sort of military thing, though...Oh CARP.  What did I even do to get assigned to this?!"
Mycroft appears to have come to a realization based on out-of-date data.  He is no less correct.  Unless he gets lucky/assigned to Hephaestus.

I look up at Flint's odd gesture, and rear up on my hindpaws for a moment so I can rest my forepaws on Flint's fist (and use it to steady myself on my hindpaws). From that position I nod twice.

"I take it that this is some sort of military thing, though...Oh CARP.  What did I even do to get assigned to this?!"

"Yes, this is a military thing. We're an organization called ARM, former HMRC, and we're fighting against the United Worlds of Man or whatever they are called." Milno opts to spell out the last name simply because he suspects it'd be far too many acronyms in a single phrase. His gaze also shifts to the newcomer. What do they take him for, a babysitter? "So we're getting either volunteers or people who were arrested and thrown into the HMRC. You either call it quits and we leave you on an allied planet to carry on with your life or you stay and risk life and limb to destroy the government that got you imprisoned. Is that enough info? I hope it is."
