Quest for the giant desert scorpion
« on: April 22, 2012, 12:44:25 pm »

I want a fortress whose soul point is to capture and train fifty GDS. (I've modded it so i can). So: I embark to a badlands and I don't see one. How long should I wait, if at all, for one?

Well you need the most savage areas which means that they must be untamed wilds, joyous wilds or terrifying. You can only check directly when embarking, but you could possibly check which animals that are arriving to determine. Any giant animals its one of those.

You check before you embark. Otherwise try finding out if you have any highwood trees or whip vine in the area.

It'd help if you modded them to be [UBIQUITOUS] too, and have children.

warm/hot deserts/rocky deserts/badlands (not sure, cold may also do it, but...) and untamed wilds, joyous wilds or terrifying biome.
^^
thanks

As KodKod pointed out, mod them with the [UBIQUITOUS] tag, and then make sure you embark on a biome in which they can exist. The tag should ensure that you'll get them, as it means they definitely will exist in every biome they could possibly exist in.

I have massive experience in this field. What you have to do is to increase their frequency by a multiple of 100.
If you dont they will keep getting blocked by other creatures - like animal men.
