I don't have any profiles like that, so I think my install is messing up. Regardless, set it to A2 OA Combined Ops (Forced).

I just manually install the Day Z files; the updater is beyond me at the moment.

Well, I can finally connect into US1 and US2 fine, but I'm stuck at the loading screen after proceeding. At least I can get into the lobby now.

EDIT:
Finally connected. Not bad, though it was pitch dark and hard to find others at the start. Not bad, nonetheless.

Might not be joining the US3 and US4 servers just yet. However, at least I finally got the damn mod to work. Unless I hear other people using VOIP, would I then use mine. I don't want to annoy others with my voice, unless it's appropriate (hamming up a death).

Had a funny experience. I managed to group up with a squad in a town I finally cam across, ran out of ammo, my buddies died, and I was chased around by zombies, for maybe 15 minutes across town, through a field, and back through town again. I must've had about 15 of them chasing me at once. I couldn't help but to think Benny Hill the entire chase.

Anyway, I should be easy enough to spot in the servers. [B12] is the prefix for my name.

Sometimes the load screen takes a long time. I usually tab out for ~5 minutes and I'm finally in.

Never use voip on side or global chat. It's almost universally annoying.

Well, I found a huge radio tower with a humvee parked in it (needing full repair, of course). The radio tower didn't have anything, but the humvee was chock full of goodies I couldn't use. However, on a trek to the nearby town I found a little guard stand with a silenced MP5.

My main issue now is that I am pretty much constrained to the EU servers by virtue of my work schedule, assuming I want to play in daylight at all. But the ping isn't too bad.

If you feel like messing with the beta patch of arma oa, United Operations hosts US 3 and 4 with the beta patch on it, also seems as if they might keep one server 12 hours opposite the other, so one is generally always day time while the other is night.

I'd also be interested in maybe working together on occasion with someone I can trust. If anyone from around here is interested, let me know.

I tried working the beta patch (which I have installed) but I can't figure out how to get it to work with the mod, so I'm fine playing on EU servers for the time being.

Just to say; I'm on this and have [B12] slapped on my name to stop y'all shooting me. I play on the European and French servers, if anyone wants to join up sometime.

I just put "-mod=@dayz" in this part of the "_A2CO_beta" batch file:
Code: [Select]
:run
call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" -window -nosplash -mod=@Dayz -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=7 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

That made it work fine for me as long as I run Arma from said batch file.

Flailing people to death with empty socks, though, that takes a lot of effort. Less so if the sock's made out of something interesting, but generally quite difficult.

New changelog:

Quote
UPDATE : 1 MAY 2012
   Affected addons:
      * dayz_code      1.5.3

   Developer's Note:
      * PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DAYZ 1.2.2 FROM LAST UPDATE ALREADY!

   Changelog:
      * [FIXED]      Morphing to new character causes empty backpack
      * [FIXED]      At least some instances of players not able to load
      * [FIXED]      "Monkey" Zombies weren't spawning
      * [FIXED]      Bandits could not get in vehicle with other bandits/survivors
      * [NEW]         Sync of player now entirely player driven to reduce server load and hangups
      * [NEW]         Server database sync of characters heavily optimized to reduce load
      * [NEW]         Server database sync of vehicles heavily optimized to reduce load
      * [NEW]         Server item creation optimized to reduce change of vehicles/tents not spawning in
      * [NEW]         Management of tent/vehicle inventory sync by server rewritten
      * [NEW]         EXTERNAL SCRIPT: Dynamic Weather Effects Script by Engima

I like the smallish amount of things that get changed, but the rapid cycles of fixes that come out. I have high hopes for this mod in the future; give it a month and it might not be alpha anymore.

I'll be on the EU1 server for a little while if anyone wants to say hi and maybe team up. Recently died so I don't have that sexy silenced MP5 anymore, and could use someone with a better sense of direction/where important things are.

Edit: Speaking of direction, I spawned a new character and found a dead body about 10 meters in front of me with binocs and a compass. I think it was Chern, but I hear lots of people running about and gunshots being fired, so I grabbed those and got the hell out. Almost ran into 3-4 people running around throwing flares and chemlights.

Alienware. That is probably the only laptop that could run this sonofabitch.

Uh... I can run it. My laptop is from 2008-2009 (I think) and I got it for 700 bucks from Futureshop. I can run Arma2 on lowest settings with just a little bit of lag.
