A discovery about zombie remains

I recently had a possessed dwarf craft something.  Not unusual in of itself, save for what he made


I haven't modded my game, and what makes this intriguing is that the only humans and goblins I've had at this fort are zombies.  This suggests they lack the [sentient] tag, although that wouldn't be surprising.

Now I've gotta find a dwarf willing to wear the rotting remains of a human as a helmet

All bones acquired through corpses decaying can be used for crafts/moods, it's just you can't butcher their corpses, which is why you can't normally get their brightly shining bones :3

Ahh, didn't know that.  I thought it was kinda set that they wouldn't touch the remains of sentients at all

I'm pretty sure cooking isn't a moodable skill.

Dying (ceasing to be alive) is also not a Moodable skill. Even totally unskilled Dwarves seem to do it correctly.

All cooks do that, but won't because elves are very untasty. Like eating a sock worn by a kobold full of wet sawdust.

I think a cook without a mood can use elf meat just as easily as beef, but you'd need someone to butcher an elf for your dwarves, because they won't. I'd suggest embarking on a NC lair, probably in an old and populous world.

I don't know if it will still glitch, but forcing the butcher flag using something like runesmith in the past on a sentient would result in the sentient being led to the slaughterhouse, and....processed.

I used to do that to nobles.

I should see if it still works.

Seeing your buddies bones being worn by an axe-wielding dwarf is a sight to see I would imagine.

To clarify, you must cut a zombie to bits and then let the zombits rot until there's nothing but bone.

It doesn't have to be zombified first either.

There have been some problems with this as I recall. I've personally had cancellations because dwarves kept trying to use goblin bits but at the same time I've also made goblin bone arrows without raw modification.

RS hasn't been updated, in .31 it didn't work when I tried it with sentients. You could do it with pets but the parts would be treated as garbage instead of food.
