WTF Japan : Travel Edition
« on: April 11, 2012, 04:35:55 pm »

So, I'm traveling to Japan at the end of may. I'll be there a couple weeks, and most of the trip has already been planned. It's going to be awesome and I don't care that I'm going to be broke by the time I return. HOWEVER, I'm going to be in Tokyo for 3 days and dear god, I'm stumped.  Overwhelmed. There's way more than 3 days worth of crazy stuff to do and see in Tokyo. Crazy Japanese shopping, museums, shrines, parks, clubs, clothes, robots...

So, Bay 12, I need your help. What are the things I absolutely can't miss while I'm in Tokyo?

Try and hit up one of the used panty machines, for me. Or try and get some Saki Otsuka Love Juice Lotion (NSFW) Or Golden Shower Nyou Maniac Lotion (Also NSFW)

What I'm trying to say is that japan is weird, and you should be afraid, very afraid.

I remember reading about this luxury cafe were they have girls pretending to be young boys crossdressing as maids. No I'm not joking, but then again you probably believe me since this is Japan we're talking about. I lost the link to that article ages ago though, apparently its very popular :P

The whole "Japan is weird" thing is selection bias at its finest.  The western world only ever hears about the weird shit.

Personally, I'd spend my time buying books, sampling food, and riding the trains.  Try some backwater ramen shops, things like that.

Personally Finkus, there's nothing personal here, I think every country is weird... No really. Lutefisk ftw

Strategically placed rolled up socks.

Oh who am I kidding, they must have the required prosthetics available at every corner store, it is japan after all.

(but seriously, I have seen them for sale online)

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

Which raises an interesting question: Which is stranger, Japan or the Discworld?

But yes, I'd agree with Sir Finkus on this one.

I've seen quite a few variety shows that take footage from shows like Cops for exactly this purpose.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Well, that was an example :)

If you mean a youtube link or something, I don't have any handy.  I see this stuff on streaming television, and sometimes on ニコニコ.  If you snoop around long enough you'll see it.

There is an American Restaurant that specialises in unhealthy food. They specifically make their foods as unhealthy as possible such as using lard high in saturated fats.

You can buy lollipops infected with Chicken pox online in America. Americans feed these to their children to get them sick intentionally.

Plus let us not forget that "Musk" scented Perfume/Cologne is a thing in America.
