Wow, selling to rob-citizens has rather hit the B2B in the knee-caps. The old disadvantage of it being slow for those of us who focus on mass-production and research has now turned around.
i've got 5 500m^2 plots pumping fruit into a single 500m^2 farm shop and i've run out of stock! Even selling at high prices!

I'm renaming "Eden Industries" to "Eden Agriculture" and setting up "Eden Foundry" as a heavy engineering company. Naming it after "Vulcan Foundry".
Eden Agriculture needs a better name, but i don't know any real agricultural companies.
(I like references, see my in-game name "Eden Smith" referring to "Adam Smith" which was taken)

EDIT: Welp i had more than enough money to set that up, Thank you robo-citizen spending spree!

We just need to get Toady to embed a Lisp interpreter into DF.  Learning lambda calculus in order to play the game wouldn't make DF's learning curve much steeper.

HI All,
I've been playing this game for a week now as Sandford running Foster Foods. Today has been a bit crazy, at one point my supermarkets held 100% market share in the sale of frozen pork and I've seen the demand met for chicked breast patties go from ~30% to 140%. I imagine there is going to be a huge spike in store sales for everybody from this.

No world announcement but import prices have basically tripled unannounced. I'm buying up as much as I can at the old price from B2B.

Just started playing. Producing Oranges, litterally started like five minutes ago and wondering how I get electricity.

EDIT: Oh, gotta pay for it, hurf.

EDIT: Considering making this an entirely self sufficient (IE, producing whatever I need on site, electricity, water, presumably tin for cans, etc), feel free to tell me precisely why this is an amazing/terrible idea. :P

Company name is "OrangeYouGlad", name is Clarance Craftson, Wanted "OrangeYouGladeTheseArentBananas" but it was too long.

EDIT2: I'm beginning to realize this is fairly impractical with all the potential uses for various things. Hmm.

Silly me, I accidentaly bough a 1M Q15 bacon patch, instead of just 100k, that cost me... $200M, or $489 each. If somebody would be interested in buying it for as low as $300.

Can someone explain stores to me? What's the difference between selling out of stores and out of the B2B market? And how big an effect is quality on unit price? Like I made a field to grow corn in as I'm gonna be focusing on agriculture in general I think, and It started as Q0. So I clearly need to do some research on it, but when can I start growing corn (and other stuff) and expecting people to actually buy it?

Price it low enough and people will by 0 quality stuff.  Or well, just undercut and someone will buy it.

Stores, you sell to the robo-citizens.  B2B is to other players so they can turn it into nifty stuff or to sell to the robo-citizens themselves.

Quailty on price...  there is a formula somewhere on the forums, I personally havnt bothered to price-adjust that into my financial dealings much.

Okay, so there's literally no reason to discard anything, as you can just toss it into a store. Unless you don't have the required store I suppose. Kay!

And so the name of the game as far as pricing goes is undercutting, obviously unless you're going under what you spent to make it all in total. Thanks!

There are some raw materials that you won't be able to sell in stores. Though I don't remember what they are at the moment. You should still never, ever discard something from the warehouse. If a store won't take it, list it on the B2B or export it. It will disappear eventually.

From my experience:
1:More fields, Don't build a single field and make it big. I've got 5 fruit and 3 plantations.
2: Pump your own water, The cost per unit can be as low as 0.03 compared to the 0.06 of the B2B, which when you use millions of units a day is quite a bit!
3: Variety, If your going into stores research 8 crops and produce them by how many are selling. If your in B2B this applies even more, Spread out and target areas with low competition.
4: big batches, the larger the batch the better. I typically go with 22hour batches to keep a steady income and so that new research can be used sooner.


Rubber is low in supply , and if you price nicely then my second company (Eden Foundry) would be happy to buy off B2B instead of going though the expense of setting up small scale production of rubber.
It's made on plantations which can also grow most crops such as barley and tomatoes so it doesn't have to be the main stay.

EDIT: Oh goody I didn't notice that nobody makes electronic components at a sensible price, £60 for a component i need 10s of?! No thanks mate. I'm going into steel, hopefully some better priced steel on the market will encourage some heavy industry growth and the increased demand will make electronics more competitive.

I'm loving the new UI change! No need to check B2B or Import to see if the item is stocked there, and hovering over your stocks of something in the store tells you how long it's expected to last. Probably I could make batches of ~24 hours like oven_baked said, but... I'm fond of 6-to-8 hour batches for some reason. I know it's inefficient, and I know that if things got crazy I could cancel production. For some reason though, checking in more often like that appeals to me. Also, I only have 2 crops at the moment, and 2 large, 1000m2 plantations to grow them on. It's not as efficient, probably, but I'm still making more money than I know what to do with. I'm nearing 50 Mil, I need to figure out what to do with it before taxes eat it all away. xD

Funny thing for me is the reason I hated to play it on the iPad is not because the content is inaccessible, but rather anything that has a tooltip requires me to "click" once for the tooltip to show up, and then again to follow the link.

Now, playing on a tablet running windows is even trickier: it's 1 click, but the tooltip shows up at the same time the link gets followed. So if the tooltip says: this button deletes your items and there's no more confirmation other than this tooltip... too bad you've already followed the link.
