Make reanimated bodyparts less aggressive, more territorial.
« on: April 08, 2012, 06:49:31 pm »

One trope I've always noticed with reanimated body parts, from creeping hands to haunted steaks, is that they never go out and try to find, or aggressively chase enemies. They always lie in wait, which is creepier that way.

I figure by adding 2 new tags, we could emulate this, while still having ways of modding the original crazylimbs out there to do things.

[FEIGN_DEATH_IF_WOUNDED]
[FEIGN_DEATH_IF_INACTIVE]

How it works is if something has the feign death tag, they will appear to an adventurer as dead, until they approach, at which point they will spring to life! If they have the feigndeath_if_wounded tag, they will only do this if they are missing a brain or a heart. This would be given to all zombies, so normal zombies would be fine, but body parts, heads and headless torsos would feign death.

However, Feigndeath_if_inactive tag would cause undead to plop back to death if they are merely left alone, even if they are in mint condition. This would be cool for mummies and the like, so you might see bodies strewn across the floor, and right when you are in the middle of them all, they burst to life and attack you!

I would personally give reaction zombies the feigndeath if inactive, as opposed to wounded, but some people like zombies wandering around for miles.

This would definitely up the creep factor...and can you say "Paranoia?" I knew you could.

Honestly, this sounds excellent.
Just walking through a hallway, minding your own buisiness...
Suddenly, a hand pops up behind you and grabs your ankles.
Ooooh, scary!

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

More likely, that hand grabs you by the toe, and it goes sailing off in an arc!

You mean, the toe ?
Also, highly approved, brilliant idea. It would also explain how they go back to their original position after every time someone comes in.
Bonus points if mummies can only feign death in their sarcophagus.

This would form colonies of severed parts in your traps. Hundreds of parts would end up camping in your disk traps, which then multiplies into 300 parts, then into 500, blah blah.

But interesting idea, just not feasible the way I see it.

By that point wouldn't they be pulped?

Jesus, I just imagine hundreds of pulped, bloody limbs dragging a screaming goblin into a weapon trap...
I just crossed the line twice. :P

Bear in mind that only hands, arms with hands attatched, and stuff including heads can be reanimated.
