I don't know that tileset, but it sure looks like whatever those 4 X's are in front of the depot are doing it.

Those are up/down stairs, do stairs block traders?

Stairs block wagons.  Move the stairs and replace those spots with constructed floors.

I just moved the depot in front of the stairs, all good now. Still room for drawbridges in the hall :)

And always in the set up you have, place the depot closer to the door than the stair access. A drawbridge seperating the two areas is good for emergencies. Would you rather have elf merchants slaughtered than dwarves. Nevermind, that was a dumb question.:)

Should you fail to comply, strict !!disciplinary actions!! will be taken. Also, we feel we should remind you that one of the "criminals" on your list is the chief medical dwarf. If he ends up too badly injured to do his job, you will be fired. Out of a magma cannon.

yeah, correct answer: both

my depot can be closed off from the outside, but I can also seal the fort off and still let it attract traders. This because I want to start fishing again, but don't want the idiots to go out the wrong way and encounter ambushes, but to use safe areas.

I like my Depot open to the air.  It doubles as a Dump.  Miasma is a trouble with the indoor Depots, I build.  Its also a good idea to paint a low quality goods/furniture pile near it.  Sincerely, Knutor
