"Whew....no need to worry, I'm good. I suppose hiking for three days straight really gets to you...eh?"

After trying to salvage the embarrassing situation he's in, Travis takes a deep breath and tries again.

"There's still a possibility of falling Milno. You are our best cushion, and worst falling projectile. I won't be able to catch you if you fall for fear of breaking all my bones. If you'd still like to climb the rope, let me at least try one more time to set up these pitons"

Gorat sighs, feeling pretty useless waiting for a solution.

Which is worse, known debilitating physical damage or possible concussion?

Lay back on the sand and recover.

"Concussion," Faith said half-heartedly.

Examine the sand grains in as much detail as I can.

Yeah, probably. At least you'll probably get that hand reattached and know for sure it's yours, although that is if you manage to keep that patch repair through the rest of the mission. Brain damage, on the other hand, is harder to treat.

That's a tricky question, right? Hmmm... I'd say, debilitating damage to one or more of your limbs (especially if to legs) is worse - in the end, while making things harder to accomplish, concussion doesn't physically prevent you from running or climbing. I'd say, better a slim survival chance than no chance whatsoever.

As for long-term brain damage... Remember that time when Steve mentioned that stasis pods caused cancer or something? ...Yeah. As they say, do we really want to live forever?
Maurice joked as he answered.

[str:5]
You climb up the rope. Every so often you wrap the rope around your legs and lean forward, carefully hammering pitons in at repeating intervals.  You continue till you reach the walkway and can climb no further up. You don't actually hop into the walkway though.

Which is worse, known debilitating physical damage or possible concussion?

Lay back on the sand and recover.
You lay against the wall, careful to lay on your side so you don't damage the heat fins on the back of your suit. They're not hot enough right now to be dangerous, but damage would render the suit less efficient at heat exchange. You close your eyes and try not to concentrate on the pounding in your head, or the fact that the pounding could be foretelling something fatal.

"Concussion," Faith said half-heartedly.

Examine the sand grains in as much detail as I can.
You pick up a handful of sand with your good hand and let it pour through your fingers until you have just a very small amount.  You squint down at a single grain, trying to see any sort of detail possible. The grain is insanely tiny, almost invisible even when you're squinting at it and putting it right next to your faceplate. It looks almost like a mote of dust. You can't see any real detail.

Hm. At least you know how you're hurt, I've no idea whether I'm fine, which is unlikely, have a concussion, most likely, or even possibly major cerebral trauma, unlikely, but probably more likely than nothing at all.

Try and sleep, dreaming of the expansive workshop I had at home.

((It's actually been proven that for people with concussions, keeping them awake is the last thing you want to do. A resting brain can repair itself more efficiently.))

"Tada! This should make things easier"

Using a piton as a foothold, Travis pulls the rope and pushes with his feet to get on the walkway.

Charro smiled to himself as he focused the camera on the team, trying for some good, scenic shots of the wall and surroundings. (The ever-present darkness didn't really help with that, but ehh.) That had sounded good. Now he just needed for the others to do something else worth reporting on!

>Practice my camera-work, filming the team and surroundings at different angles etc.

(Yeah the whole keeping them awake thing is more for a while afterwards to keep testing their cognitive abilities to make sure there's nothing more serious happening. )

You close your eyes and enter a sort of fitful sleep, your mind a wash with hazy images of your journey through the abyss and half dreams of what you left behind. [intuition: 2] You drift through the dreamworld with little concept of what's happening.

You push off one of the Pitons while pulling on the rope. It's a bit awkward but you make it into the walkway.

You bounce around, filming random things at all variety of dutch angles. You hope they like all this footage of mauled inmates laying silently against a wall, contemplating their own injuries and mortality.

You feel the ground tremble slightly for just an instant, then you feel nothing. You can't hear a thing.

"Alright. I'm going to do some preliminary scouting while you all climb up"

Travis cracks a glow stick, his faceplate tinted blue by the light, and walks along the walkway in the direction away from the wall.

Get someone's climbing rope, wrap around shoulder and climb the rope Travis left to the walkway. Replace any lost pitons on the wall and try to get on the walkway afterwards.

Compare the tremble I felt with the ones left by the Wyrm and with the ones connected to sandstone shapeshifting and think about the results of that comparison.

Did everyone feel that? ...Also, please, be careful, lest another tremor affect your ascent.
