Jim sighed and got to his feet. The first thing he did was close the door behind him, re-barricading it if possible to keep any other zombies from following him in. The second was find any corpses in the area, and if he did, dismembered them with the cleaver. The third thing he did was search the room.

Bishop was silent after watching the scene before him, before turning to the others next to him.

"Well... I think that it's official... I'm sorry to say, but Jim's lost it. Someone better check on him, I'll get this door open."

Search for a control panel which I can use to bypass the door controls and unlock it. If that doesn't work, then slice through the lock with my torch and then try.
You kneel down to get good look at the control panel and press a few buttons experimentally. It works, not it's just a matter of getting the door open. [aux:1] You manage to cross a few wires and put the door into some sort of lockdown mode. You grumble and groan as you drag your cutting torch out and starting to carve away at the door. [Aux:5] You slice the lock with the skill of a surgeon and fling the doors open with a smile. And then a corpse flops out of the open doorway and knocks you to the ground with it laying limply on top.

[Will:1] You scream. You scream like a little girl in pigtails and a tutu, flailing ineffectually like a starfish on meth.

Jim sighed and got to his feet. The first thing he did was close the door behind him, re-barricading it if possible to keep any other zombies from following him in. The second was find any corpses in the area, and if he did, dismembered them with the cleaver. The third thing he did was search the room.

You once again do the closest robotic equivalent of a sigh, a sort of low buzzing grunt, and sit up, hands on your knees. You look around and decide that it's probably best to get that door closed again, before things follow you in here. You grab a piece of rebar, part of the pile of junk that was barring the door before, and wedge it between the handles of the door before piling the rest of the junk back up. That done, you go about dismembering the corpses that lay around the room. There are a lot of them, most in beds, but a few scattered around.

At first you start by just hacking off their heads, but you remember that that didn't stop the one in the shower, so you hack their arms and legs off as well. The cleaver makes it easy, just 5 hard blows and then everything is done. You're about to move on when you realize you've left dismembered bodies all over the room and that, if they still rise, you'll be surrounded. You strip the bodies of any possessions and hurl them into a pile in one corner of the room, covering yourself in an even thicker coat of gore in the process.

With that chore done you start searching the room, looking in beds, foot lockers and the stripped clothing of the corpses for anything interesting.  You find 9 datapads. Dang.

"Fuckin'... fucking fuckers. You ain't gonna catch me by surprise." Jim piled up all the remaining remains in one part of the room and attempted to turn them into ashes with his amplifier. Once that was done, he would turn his attention to the datapads and see if they had any more information about this audio-cure.

[exotic:2+1+1+1 (dang, lucky)] You concentrate on the pile of dismembered bodies and will them to burn, your foot tapping involuntarily as you do. The bodies smolder and burn like dry leaves, burning rapidly into a horrible mass of ashes, waxy fat and bones. You nod your head in satisfaction before returning to the datapads. You take a seat on one of the lower bunk beds and start scrolling through the data, looking for anything about the audio cure and the madness that was taking over the base. Most of the data pads are junk, just physics or personal journals or porn, god all the porn, but one of them talks about the mental illness that is effecting the base. Apparently it not only removes the survival instincts of the infected, but makes them completely incapable of realizing they're in danger. In later stages the infected actually become violent toward anyone who attempts to help them. The audio cure, a copy of which is on the data pad, is the only way to snap them out of it.

((Poor bishop.))

Bishop promptly shoved the damn corpse off him after a moment and rolled away from the door, gasping.

"S... Shi... Shit... Holy fuck... It's been ages since something... like that... happened to me... Oohhhh fuck, I hate this place already."

He sat there, hands on knees, breathing heavily for awhile, before waving the others in.

"Just.. Give me a moment... I need to get myself together. Go on in."

Attempt breaching and entering, with a position ready for incoming traps. If not attacked back, examine room from my position.

Feyri watched behind her as the others came, except for Jim. She nodded and radio'd the rest.

"Alright, the Military Observer's Quarters. This place may have inherent defenses set up, judging by the name. Everyone on my mark? Ready?"

((Come to think of it, how do we transmit to Steve? Radio waves?))
(Well, your radios transmit to the transmitter you activated which then transmits to steve)
You attempt to breech the room by slamming your shoulder into the door. [strength:5] [end:5] The door holds tough despite a nice new dent in the metal. You guess that it must be locked.

(( :o I get the best rolls possible and I can't do it?!

I should've powerslided into the door...

. . . *reads rest of post*

Oh. Now I know why.  O_o))

Feyri stood back aghast as the door didn't budge, despite her best efforts in breaching and entering, in every possible way involving her upper arm.

Then, the others past her as Jim broke through. The resulting event was unbelievable. Jim was shouting at nothing, or was there something he saw that we didn't...cam-eyes?

She still stood there, mouth agape as they relayed their messages. And Bishop.

'Corpses?...'

"Hey, I've an idea everyone! If we see corpses, try saying your name. If anyone hears their name being called, and as we know our locations via transmissions, then we can easily tell which ones are real and not an enemy."

She was confused by the amount of expletives Jim knew, in noun, adjective, verb and adverb form. Quite impressing.

Then, she examines her current vicinity while keeping an eye out for suitable information.

'You know, intuition, you've been pretty quiet,' she mused to herself. 'Something is wrong, judging by the swearing and such.'

Guard doorway, keep watch for other enemies.

She turned to Jim, deciding to approach his shift in emotion. "Jim, is there something you can see that we can't? You've been swearing at fluff the whole time we've been down here.

Can you...switch views from those eyes of yours and relay what you can see? Heat signatures, infrared...you know?"

(Sorry, Tiruin. I'm far on the other side of the floor in a barricaded room. ^^^; )

"Good. Fucking finally." Jim played the audio cure and idly browsed through the porn while he listened. Anything to take his mind off the zombies walking about. He cast a nervous glance toward the melted pile before returning his attention to the datapad.

Jim responded over the coms. "I don't know, Feyri, either the four of you are infected or I am. Steve said one of the datafiles we sent him was bad for computers, and I heard it. So either that's fucking with my sensory input devices or there's something else going on down here and it's affecting the four of you because you're all 100% organic. Look, just get something sharp or heavy and destroy every corpse you see, OK? If you're infected and can't see them attacking, it'll be for your own safety, and if I'm infected and I'm just hallucinating all this shit, well, at least I'll feel better."

((After browsing thread, I go  :D for I do have an extra battery to my Laser Rifle as an extra ammo clip and that blue pill that the doc gave me while I was healing my broken leg! Yay!

And I have that 1 token that Jim gave me, that I gave Jim earlier from his Razor  :P))

Feyri remembered the inscription on the Armory under Unconventional Weaponry, after browsing on the uses of her Sabre. "...New vision filters include: Infrared, x-ray, motion tracking, 2-10X zoom, and radiation scanning. Also, it gives you creepy, unblinking, solid black eyes. Just a heads up..." she said, verbatim. "Jim, can you scan for radiation and...motion tracking then? Then x-ray all of us?"

It was hard to keep her face from turning into a vague semblance of ':3' from the mental imagery.

She did wonder what their body compositions were, anyway. She remembered the first time she broke a leg.
-Stuff on the first mission-
You start climbing down from the top of the rock formation... and promptly slip, bouncing head first downward and hitting every single rock on the way down. Just before landing you manage to right yourself and try to land on your feet. Despite the low gravity you land terribly and your Tibia snaps like a dry twig... You manage not to black out, but only just. Your vision is a red haze of pain and your mind an inarticulate mass of swearing, pleas for mercy and self hatred.

Through your mind bending agony you can see Faith nearby, cowering behind a rock. You weakly try to communicate your need for medical attention by waving your arms and spasming. She ignores you and runs off. As you twitch the radio crackles on and a happy humming filters through.

>Foot bone's connected to your..... ankle bone, ankle bone's connect to your..... leg bone, leg bone's connected to.....nothing.

That damn song.

"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

"...Maybe. I don't really want to go near you guys right now in case I'm dangerous. Maybe when we all head down to the third floor, because I don't want to head down into the darkness alone, either." Jim felt odd. Scared yes, but there was a deeper philosophical edge to it. Maybe the feeling that he was a prisoner to the whims of his senses was more pronounced because it wasn't his actual body; he really was just a brain connected to various electrical systems that allowed him to experience the world without. But even had he still been fully human, he would still be a slave to reacting to what he saw, heard, and felt - or thought he did.

"Stay alert. This mission's too weird. It's..." he trailed off and cast another glance at the pile of melted fat and bone. It better not have moved since the last time he looked at it.

"Hey Jim. One last thing, you sound nervous. Why is that? What did you find there? Did you send it to Steve?"

She didn't keep her eyes off the possible entry points whatsoever. Only moving to look around her occasionally.

((Requesting position and map update, if possible.))

Charro grimaced, looking back in the general direction Jim went in, then back to the newly-opened door.
"So, great, either he's crazy or we are. At least, there are four of us, so I suppose that makes it... Slightly less likely? Jim is the one who browsed all those infected files, too. I think... I think we're pretty safe. From hallucinations, at least..."
>Ready laser rifle and inspect corpse for uniform, possible rank and cause of death, being sure to only touch it with a boot if possible.
>Then peer through the newly-opened doorway.

"Because there's a metric shit-ton of corpses in here. Or were. They're a pile of slag now." Jim glanced at them again before returning his attention to the datapad porn. "And I'm not sending anything else to Steve. Not without giving him some warning first, at least."
