Copyright basically loses all focus when you put your stuff for free.  Plus copyright does not protect your work, at all.  It protects you from having other people try to profit off your work in any way.

You may purchase a book in the book store.
You may write in it, use whiteout, and otherwise modify the text however you want.
You may not claim that you wrote the book.
You may not claim that your modified version is entirely your work.

Observe how this applies to mods:
You may download a mod.
You may do whatever the hell you want with it.
You may not claim to have created the mod.
You may not claim that your modified version is your work alone.

Copyright basically says that you can do anything you want in private, or while giving full due credit.  Unless you're turning it into something slanderous, in which case the original author may have a claim that you're being slanderous and that is (barely) criminal.

Do observe that BTW itself is almost on the slanderous side and a lot of attitude is borderline 'claiming ownership'.

But try posting that on Minecraft forums, any Minecraft mod forums, or Youtube comments on any minecraft video that turned into a Technic bash-fest. You will need a lot of Pyros to win the immediate flamewar you are made to hold up.

Oh no, rationale is lost on the masses.  Leave them to their disputes, just don't be afraid to toy with mods so long as you're smart.  They can say what they want, but the honor code holds up a lot more than any legal issues here.  Just keep doing what you're doing, and haters gonna hate.

I say just don't even engage them. The Technic guys have worked a while to break down that toxic environment. They seem to have some idea of what they are doing and have some form of focused plan to gain the respect of mod makers. Random guys who support their cause may hurt their standing a little.

I made it home!!!

I guess I went too deep or something, because the game crashed while traveling to a new world whilst hunting for a star fissure. Reloaded, and I'm back on the sky island! Minus all the dirt and stuff I had been carrying, but still!

In the immortal yet lackingly practiced words of Ghandi, "The most powerful thing you can do is non-participation in anything you believe is evil."  If you oppose gay marriage, then don't get married to someone gay.  If you oppose the way a restaurant treats its employees, then don't eat there.  If you think the people who cry against Technic are immature and don't understand how communities work, then don't argue with them.

@Sirus, you probably hit a cavern world.  Cavern worlds generate similar to the Nether, with a ceiling, but due to RedPower's marble generation, they cause intense massive lag while loading chunks, and will crash most computers who try to enter them for the first time, simply because it has to load all the chunks at once.  It may help to turn down your render distance before you go world hopping :P  Either way, congrats on making it through the eye of the void and your soul returning home.  Let's just hope it was your entire soul...

On the subject of IA, what about debugging a machine by sound? You get a feel for the subtle noises each part makes in proper timing and can identify misfires. Too annoying to give things audio feedback? What are your ideas?

Anyone know why the entire ground would start to collapse under me in a Mystcraft world? I'm talking dirt, ice, stone, a couple of new ores from something else in Technic...All would sporadically become affected by gravity and fall, but only within a small area. I was nearly killed a few times before I got out.

Decay. World's tend to do that sometimes.

Mystcraft worlds tend to decay, dependent on a few factors.
Pretty much, Decay blocks will slowly spawn in. Every so often, they'll activate, destroying themselves, dropping everything above them down 1 layer and making duplicates of themselves below and to the sides of where they used to be. Once they hit void, the entire stack drops from the world and vanishes.

It's to stop you from being a cheap bastard and stacking 50 Dense Ore symbols on one world.

But this world has 0 Dense Ore symbols.  :-\

Shame about the decay, I really like this world. Eternal midnight in a snowy world with giant wooden "tentacles" forming natural bridges and roads.

Iirc you get additional decay when symbols get assigned randomly. Randomly created worlds are pretty much guaranteed to start falling apart after a while. Try copying the world's symbols into another book, see if it's any more stable.

Goddam I shouldn't be crafting mines tonight...

Anti-technic people are a solid wall. Simply finding out one supports Technic immediately shuts down any positive relations. I don't know how one cracks that. You gotta have the mod makers provide an alternative viewpoint. The technic dudes are working on building those relationships with mod makers who are a bit more open to alternate ideas, and the fans will follow them if they tell them "Guys Technic is legit, stop being pissants."

As for Mystcraft, randomly made worlds tend to have a little corruption. You have to make your own worlds to ensure freedom from it. The Mystcraft dude is actually rather open about corruption too, just match up the number of biomes to the biome number symbol you have and don't include Dense Ores. Go crazy with everything else.

Or just turn it off altogether in the config .txt file, if you don't like your world descending into the void and forcing a hasty evacuation every two ingame weeks or so.
