Azastre 6->3 enlists his robot's help in removing the licorice. It comes and easily tears off the netting and sets Azastre inside the house, which is presumably a safety zone as neither Popo nor Gretel are being accosted by vines.
4 Robot saves Sandra too. She murmurs a thanks to Azastre.
Ace 1 tries to pull his feet out again, but the stretchy and strong licorice holds him fast. Slowly, it creeps up his ankles and makes its way toward his knee. The little crawlers of the licorice dig into his skin, bestowing a tingly prickly feeling that isn't pleasant, but isn't too bad either. For some reason, where the vines touch his skin it feels alternately cool and warm.
Rod offers the black vial.
5: +9 to Diplomacy.
Popo takes it and tucks it in a pouch on her belt, from which hangs a few corked and sealed flasks of technocolor liquids.
"Well, Popo doesn't know how to do black licorice magic, sir, but she can 'beat on them' if sir wants her too... though Popo thought they were sir's friends."
"The evil is some sort of external influence. Popo hypothesizes that the witch who lived here reincarnated and is doing mischief with Popo's lovely candy plants."
Arianna
Gretel nods at her confirmation of her name, then she glares at Arianna when she suggests listening to what Popo says. She doesn't start beating or trying to beat Arianna with her weapo, though. Progress?
+3 to Dip.
Q: r state? 2 Dip +3
"Oh. Popo forgot that people are usually stupid, no disrespect intended, miss." For a fraction of a second, Arianna thinks she spotted the merest shadow of condescending on Popo's face, but the moment passes.
"Colleág wrote in his Fifteen Hundred Magical Plants and Herbs, Fungi et al., Twelve Edition Third Reprint that some animals and plants reproduce rapidly when conditions are agreeable, growing in a literal exponential curve and creating as many offspring as it can before it dies off. I think that the black licorice is growing like that, especially since it's started to creep up on mobile platforms, miss, and everything will be strangled to death in short time."
Arianna is treated to a short biology lesson.
Q: Materials? 6->6->2
"Well, Popo isn't actually an alchemist, miss, so she doesn't know much about material synthesis or such. Popo does have some potions that might help, miss, and she'd like to give them to miss since Popo can't use them anyways, but not for nothing, miss."
Q: Potions? 1
"Popo doesn't make healing potions, she isn't good at alchemy."
Q: Spells, teach magic? 1
"Magic isn't easy to learn, and besides Popo thinks miss already declined an opportunity to gain magic, and that makes a closed door barred, miss. Still, some spells just need an item and the correct form, so here-"
She produces six metal flasks with a bloated lower portion. The metal is carved into the likeness of a jack-o-lantern that is smiling widely.
"Each potion makes one magma zone, miss, and depending on how luck falls, it will either hurt both friend and foe, hurt only enemies, or go out as soon as it opens up and turn into a circle of dust."
Dip + 3.
Kahn 5 quickly severs the licorice that is growing up Ace's legs at the shoe, so he can move. However, it's not completely gone.
Jack wanders back to the house and rips out one of the dark chocolate bricks, starts munching on it, and also shatters a candy glass window.
Jack feels like he is tougher. +2 to max HP.
Ire
Q: What can we do? 6->4 +6 to Dip.
"Go on a hunt to kill the witch, obviously. I thought you people were adventurers; you couldn't be that clueless in the face of a evil threat."
Gretel juts in before Popo can answer Ire.
Q: Strange and wonderful stuff! 3 +2 to Dip.
"Uhm... well, these grey ones create a cloud of acid rain, the metal ones make lava fields, uncorking the white one makes a bolt of living lightning dart between what you perceive as enemies ... erm, Popo doesn't know why she's explaining these to miss. 'The knowledge will set ye free,' sometimes from life, miss."
