The prepared cardinal brain stands up.

Zombie FOOD!? wow.
Prepared bodyparts are still bodyparts.
I can imagine a dwarf eating a chicken wing while its still fladdering in his mouth.
Oh, so hilarious.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

So if a dwarf eats a prepared body part, and it re-animates on the way down...

I am imagining the scene from Alien/s... with a dwarf and a chicken wing!

Maybe this is causing some of the random insanity?  Dwarf eats... shortly after discovers re-animated body part trying to exit said dwarf.  I know I'd pitch a fit with a wing/brain/heart/liver trying to find it's way out on it's own..

Zombie wool makes about as much sense as zombie toenail clipping. I guess we're very lucky that dwarves don't clip their toenails.

Dwarven stomachs have powerful acids, though, and some of the only ways to kill husks and the like are with fire or other substances that would destroy the material that zombies are made of.

Hence, eating zombies is the best way to permanently destroy them.

Remember, dwarves eat prepared brains already.

useless bit of info: you can have soldiers chop up the zombie wool/skin/hair and end up with "front left wool/hair/skin", "rear leg etc.", all of which can be processed like normal pieces, possibly obtaining multiple pieces of leather/whatever per animal.

I'm going to have to make a brain pit in my next fortress. Import the brains! Then dump them in The Pit! MuAHAHAHAAHAAAA!

Brain is actually quite tasty... and preparing it is recommended if you don't want it to collapse in a puddle of goo. Don't think it's sold here any more though :(

Fortunately, food can't ACTUALLY be reanimated. After butchering, only skins and hair can. The bones and meat and offal and fat cannot.

Guys, you are missing the most important question! Would a zombie brain try to eat itself?

Of course not, it's a zombie brain.

Zombies don't eat other zombies, that's one of their core mechanics - they actively seek to convert the living into being one of their own.

There are only Dwarves, us and them.

In all cases, the Dwarves aren't the monsters.
