This game is relevant to my interests. It's almost to the point that I have to buy it since it's set in post-apocalypse Sweden.

No game is ever set around here (except grand strategy games, but those don't count since they usually have the whole of Europe, minimum).

until you get a massive crime/drug smuggling/evil genius bent on world domination thing going on, for most of the world, you are just going to be in the circle that says 'Europe'

This looks pretty good. I'm always up for a good dungeon crawler, and post-apocalyptic just makes it so much better.

So, I finally caved in and bought this. I'll report back with findings when I've gotten time to play the beta.

So I played this for a couple of hours, and I'd say it has potential.

I played through the first few missions, which were pretty bog standard (go kill that, bring back this etc.). They were also very tutorial-ish, letting you get familiar with the combat system and character customisation. The combat flows well, but is not all that interesting, at least initially. However, I suspect that this is because the early enemies have no abilities what so ever, only basic attack-most-dangerous-dude-until-killed AI.

The character advancement system is where I see most of the potential for the game; every character (you get three, replaceable as the game progresses, in a party) has two skills, determined by his class, and every skill gets five (IIRC) "booster" slots where you can place various upgrades. In the short time I played, I found only two different boosters, healing and damage, but I imagine there are several more to be found later. How it works is that the boosters augment the existing skill, so for example, one of your staring guys is a "regulator" (ranged crowd-control guy with a rifle) who has two skills, an area-effect slow and a single-target stun. So if you slot into one healing booster into your area-slow it will heal all friendlies inside. Likewise, if you slot into a damage booster, it will start damaging any enemies if the area.

Each character also has several implant slots, which are used for stat boosts, which means that you don't actually gain any stats upon level up, only access to more booster and implant slots. There is also a weapon and gadget slot for each character. Weapon slot is self-explanatory, and the gadget slot contains some useful little thing, for example a grenade or a long-cooldown gun (I think there are non-offensive gadgets as well, but I didn't find any). All of this, combined with the crafting system (which means you can craft any of these items) makes me think there is some solid character-building potential here.

The world itself is pretty interesting, at least when reading the lore on their forums. I didn't see much of it explained in game yet, but I was only in the starter town and did a couple of quests. As a Swede, it's extra fun to understand the meaning behind all the quirky names and references. However, not all references are Swedish-people-only, so you crazy foreigners should find some fun references as well.

Finally, the game itself is really beautiful, especially the towns and wilderness. The art style is a really nice blend of Fallout, Borderlands and pine forest, which I personally really like.

I'm looking forward to playing the release version, and seeing more of their world.

Yep, Steam has been updating the game multiple times in the past 3-4 days.

Yeah, you're hitting the level where even indie games might be out of your reach.

So this game is nice. Like Borderlands, if Borderlands was very upfront about the tone/silliness of the world. It's got a nice style all its own, and I'm actually kind of blown away by how good the game looks. (Especially after just coming off Diablo 3.)

I love the voice overs, I don't know why, maybe it's just how it jives with the characters and visuals.

I only played an hour or two last night but I liked what I saw. I loved that there was a "deep dungeon" in the first area. This seems like the kind of game where the main story is only 1/3rd of the actual game.

Not sure if I'm wild about the character construction though. It doesn't take long before you have handle on the game and find yourself thinking "I hope this isn't it." It seems semi-tough to play it solo as it feels like the combat is balanced for co-op. With a big group of baddies it's not hard to have your Bruiser tank them, but when you get two or more big guys, it can be hard to use all of your characters and use them effectively.

This totally seems worth the money, especially because it is going to be developed continuously. Can't wait til they hook up co-op.

Worth the money!

This games a lot of fun.
Not sure how coop is going to turn out (too easy?), but managing a group of 3 by yourself can be quiet challenging/get me some flow going :), what with 3 spammable skills and 3 with a short cd, 4 of which require positioning to take full AoE effect... and 3 gadgets on top of that.

In case anybody else was wondering about the upgrade system: while you can't pull out old ones, you can replace them! so no worries, just use all the stuff you can asap, no need to wait for better things.

If anyone here played the beta: at the start i was asked if i wanted to change from "Normal", i just passed. Where can i see this option now, or is it set for the whole runthrough?
want to try harder modes. Find myself in a bit of trouble from time to time already, but i'm floating a lot of money that could be upgrades in my squad.

Can't wait till i find a portrait'd (the guys with green portraits have different skills from what i saw so far) rank 15 slayer and bruiser to finish my team with.

Alright, so I bit the bullet and got the game, seems fun but im having a really oddball issue.  For some reason the game is running in a window that has and edge that is bout 5mm away from the bottom and right hand side of my screen, for the life of me I cant seem to turn the windowed mode off.  The window is unmoveable and even more oddball I seem to have to click 5mm above and to the left of things to select them.  Anybody having a similar issue or want to point out the obvious thing I am missing?
