You have said, several times, that if the consciousness is interrupted, then the mind is not the same.

The consciousness of these creatures is very much interrupted. They have quite literally no brain activity whatsoever.

No, I don't believe I have.

I said that if the consciousness is interrupted, that 'line' of consciousness ends. Not that the mind is not the same. At least in my most recent arguments. I might have used different words in my earlier arguments, but my point is still the same.

Yeah, I never had any truck with teleportation. I'm too agnostic to believe souls or some crap will be preserved or something. Give me wormholes, THEN we'll talk.
Wat? Do you not even believe that you are a conscious being? It's not like your consciousness is transferred to the new person. It'll be the same as committing suicide. Hell, I think people should be more willing to do it if they believe in souls, since then the soul might somehow teleport too.

Sure you quoted the right person there, Rakonas? You both said the same thing.

Not done what?

Copied itself.
You implied that a teleporter could be used to fill a material need far away,

I said the exact opposite of that. The exact opposite.

You have said, several times, that if the consciousness is interrupted, then the mind is not the same.

Then what is even the point? If you are admitting you are the same what is the issue?

I think two things. The ability to send such vast amounts of information does not mean you have all the materials needed for a comfortable life, nor that you could continuously send such information.

Perhaps you can not live comfortably on earth but could in some place with a receiver? Perhaps you can afford to send your information, but not set up a constant stream to connect yourselves.

It's just a matter of what's the more economical option. You can expend an insane amount of energy every time you want to go somewhere (via teleportation) or expend an insane amount of energy printing an exact clone of yourself once and less energy maintaining a constant link.

There's nothing to stop the complexity of that link from being variable, either. A proxy clone could be something as simple as a basic sensory link (which I guess is already possible with current technology, albeit in a crude sense) with no autonomous function, or it could share input/output to the other members of the cloud, or it could be an actual fully-functional individual making up part of a hivemind. It doesn't have to be perfect, just an acceptable illusion for both ends.

Well yeah. But the question is will we be able to do that sorta thing before we can sent information faster then light? Can we change our own brains enough they do not get fucked up by the connection? Maybe? Maybe not. If so, then sure, but I was only offering reasons why we might not do what was suggested.

Honestly, do I have to explain myself again?

Look at the first sentence of the second line of my post that you quoted. That is what I'm worried about. That is what I have been worried about. And that is the only thing I'm worried about. It is completely unrelated to the state of the mind in my opinion.

What are you even arguing about? It seems like every other post you are changing it from mind to body to "consciousness" and back again.

Ask Glyph. He's the one leading me everywhere.

And I'm not even arguing most of the time, just stating my opinions.

The cloning makes the teleporting redundant. I'd be more then happy to take over an entire planet with copies of myself... Each one driven by singular thought processes. As long as a single copy was alive, I would be alive. COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS FTWWW

Legally, wouldn't the destruction of the original be considered murder? Would a reconstruction of the clone extend life spans? Will lemons be involved?

Personally, I'd say yes unless it's a willing destruction. Then it's suicide of a sort.

Not *Your* life, AKA the one thinking and breathing right now, unless you move the brain. In my opinion of course.

Will lemons be involved?
Lemons will be your new name.

Any identical copy would be the same age as you. However, if you were keen on storage, you could "live forever" by simply never being reconstituted. Or by being "reborn" over and over again. Without a way to share memories though, it wouldn't gain you a whole lot.

Is anyone going to call vita-chambers on this idea? This would effectively mean you could "respawn" on death.
