Child Deconstruction Squadron - Did You Know?
« on: March 14, 2012, 06:14:51 pm »

I have found a use for children.

DECONSTRUCTION.

It seems to be one of the only jobs they can do and they don't seem to take to long at it.

I had to remove some section of floor to put some walls down and the kids went to town when everyone else was working, had like 13 kids doing it.

I can just imagine all the dwarf kids getting together organising to pull sections of smoothed rock floor apart to reveal sand.

Yep.  Been using them for that in multiple forts since they're generally available and ready to go when I need something taken down.

I've been putting them to work as wall-smoothers and masons via the Dwarf Therapist. 20 of the little bastards make for efficient rock block production although they seem reluctant to actually build anything with the things.

They've done this for a while, but lately it seems like ALL children respond to deconstruction orders now...whereas before it was usually only one or two if they weren't busy socializing, following their parents or getting abducted.

When my parents needed something demolished, they always gave the job to us kids. Telling kids they're allowed to break stuff is a good way to get them motivated to work. :P

Nowhere else on the planet can I say I've seen people want a discussion to pertain to the use of children to make delicious, delicious hamburgers...

Clearly, this represents six side-by-side wheelbarrows, as indicated by the right half of the icon.  The left half indicates they are carrying babies with hats in these wheelbarrows.

Presumably, they are lining up to dump them into the baby furnaces.

Actually, some of the "daycare" devices use wall deconstruction to bait children into the trap.

Don't let Toady find out or he'll nerf the value of dwarf child bone crafts.

why butchering children ? it's not like you're lacking food in the average fort.

Child labour, however, I support.

...and some daycare variants work as literal child deconstruction chambers. >:D
I, too, thought this thread was about those.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.
