There was a thread a while back with this exact situation...

And many, many more merchants.

Serving death with a smile.

merchants seem to die awfully fast if they don't wake up.
kicked in the head and struck down x20

on a 34.03 gen there was a market enclosed in a square where they had animals in each corner.
the bogeyman were savaged by the dogs and boars.
it's interesting because animals usually come in flocks and don't sleep,
so they're naturally anti-bogeymen.

Yeah this happened to me when I first started playing the new update.

At first I had no idea what was going on... because I woke with no message in the middle of the night, I thought I pissed some people off for sleeping in the middle of the street. Then suddenly a LITERAL TIDAL WAVE of blue merchants and bystanders swarm me and I wondered if I could get trampled to death. After the giant blob of merchants passed where I was sleeping I had a massive spam of fight logs and I couldn't see what they were attacking because the logs were going by too fast.

After a minute or two I realized bogeymen tried attacking me, and 30 people rushed to my defense :P

I had this many times before. The problem is, boogeymen come only for your adventurer, all the merchants sleep by their wares and are safe, but once you sleep there with them, you make the bmen appear and they usually get into fight. I don't like boogeymen as a feature, it feels slapped on and inconsistent.

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

Good thing you can turn them off.

This is how I used to level up, its fun fighting alongside merchants to show the bogeymen the afterlifebest way to have fun.

I agree; I like the intent, to make the night dangerous and spooky (and fun,) but it seems kind of contrived. It's probably just a placeholder until something more grounded in the setting is fleshed out.

Merchants don't fuck around in this game.

Can only imagine the next day butchers were desperately trying to shift bogeyman flesh to unsuspecting customers before it evaporates.
