I have recently taken an interest to playing in adventure mode, and have two goals for my adventurer:
1. I want to play as a dwarf
2. I want to be able to obtain small-sized armor, preferably with at least a chance of getting steel
I wouldn't think that this would be very hard, but fulfilling the second goal is proving to be quite elusive. I've seen several forum posts that suggest that if you can make dwarves live in cities, then they will have shops that sell dwarf-sized gear. This is false - I've changed the civilization raws to make dwarves use and prefer cities for their default sites. They make walled cities with fortresses and shops, and every single shop sells 100% large-sized, 100% non-steel gear. There is the odd piece of armor strewn about the fortress floors which is correctly small, but again there is no steel - even though I have confirmed that I can start a dwarf adventurer with a steel weapon or shield.
I've even tried building a fortress with the express purpose of filling it with armor and abandoning it, and have not been successful at finding any armor (whether in adventure mode or reclaiming the fortress to check what's there). Modding seems to be the best solution, but I'm not really sure what files affect shops ingame so I'm at a loss as to what else I can do. Does anyone know a good way to get small-sized gear readily available in adventure mode?
Hopefully this isn't an inappropriate spot to post this, I have a
similar post in the modding forum and am not getting any replies so I thought a forum with more adventure-interested people might turn up some solutions.
Thanks in advance for the help!
