Does it matter? No one bats an eye when other leaders are criticized by everyone under the sun. As they well should be. It is not as if the nations of the world are divorced of one another. We are, at least for the moment, all stuck together on this damnable rock, and Putin currently happens to be in control of a rather significant portion of it.

Granted, some of Russia's official landmass isn't all that populated, but resources are resources.

Putin recovered Russia's economy. No one denies that. It just would have been nicer for everyone involved if he had not gotten into the "take over the whole government and commit blatant electoral fraud" business, because frankly the man is a cunning and brutal lunatic. Given that he used to work for the KGB, I can't really say it's that surprising of a development.

It IS on the news, you know. Putin won in a landslide, going on to his 3rd term. (What is the deal with Russian term limits anyways? You can only be elected twice unless you decide to run a third time?)

People are saying the voter fraud is blatantly obvious.

Exactly what I don't understand. The fraud was so obvious it went through. They carried people around with busses apparently so that they could vote more than once.

All these talks about protests will probably not prevent Putin from becoming president. The opposition doesn't have many supporters nationwide (outside Moscow and Saint Petersburg) to actually influence anything.
The long-announced mass protests on March 5 resulted in Navalny and the rest of his fellow opposition activists getting arrested.
