Things you wish weren't 'fixed'
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:56:51 am »

Every time Toady One 'fixes' something like "...vampires won't try to pin crimes on animals." or "...stopped vampires from pinning their crimes on babies and children." some part of me wishes he, well, didn't; Not to go as far as to say they should be left in, but perhaps changed to an extremely low chance.

I think it's kind of funny that a vampire would blame an animal - it's almost like he's doing it in desperation.
"No, it wasn't me! It was... uh. It. It was a cow! Yes! That one there! A horrible, bloodthirsty cow!"

it's like in skyrim when killing the chicken that happned to be in the same place you were stabbing a guy would lift the bounty on you as "the last witness has been eliminated"

I want to talk to a sentient leg, like the mutant in Futurama.

That's the point, it wouldn't be as fun to crush their souls if they didn't have souls to begin with.

Well, they were funny and helpful, but really out of place... though we could add a suggestion about making them use Liar skill. (Legendary Liars would know exactly who to blame it on - the guy with loads of kills)

But imagine a vampire saying "Urist McSheriff, I'd like to report the death of Urist McVictim, I saw him get killed by YOUR kitten a week ago."

What I don't like being 'fixed'... well... perhaps the Atom-Smasher technique, though it still works on mostly everything except... things you really NEED to use them on (-undead)
Then again, everything has its reason. What's the challenge in killing a Bronze Colossus if you can eliminate him with a bridge that's as big as his leg? (I almost said flip of a lever but that can still work, depending on what it controls...)

Adding another to the list; "...stopped zombie cats from adopting dwarves." I'm not saying these should be anywhere near common but its that flavor, what would DF be without the glacier of cruelties or the fortress made of pitchblende. Small amounts of randomness make it feel like there is more to the game, too much of it is bad, things too outlandish are bad, but just some strangeness here and there makes the game much more interesting.

I didnt like it when the number of bars needed to forge things got fixed. I guess its a good thing though.

I wonder what bugs might be present when any of us mod in actual vampiric animals.  Can anyone accuse bunnicula of a crime, will heartless be left alone to kill, and what about beastweres being animals for most of the month?

Maybe that the dwarves never died and everyone is just shunning them.
"Wait, what are you doing?  I don't want to go in there!  No, I'm still alive, you can't do this to me!  Is Anybody listening?  Hello... Can someone let me out?  Help me!  Is anyone there?  I'm running out of air!"
