Is tagging actually worth my while?
« on: February 26, 2012, 03:13:06 pm »

That is to say, does it actually influence public opinion? I'm not talking about making murals, my liberals always seem to get arrested when I do that, but raiding places and then grafitting the walls there. Obviously, the people involved get a LOT of crimes on there rec sheet, but I'm just intrested in knowing if it has any significant effect on public opinion polling.

I may be wrong, and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think so.

Graffiti is mainly for juice. You get 1 juice for each wall you spray so 50 walls is enough for that person to recruit 1 person, not including your leader.

It effects public opinion based upon where you tag.

For instance, tagging the police station is probably the best way to affect the law enforcement issue prior to forming your elite assault squad.

But tagging the Vegan Co-Op does next-to-nothing (at most, it may build residual respect for the LCS, but it probably does nothing).

Still, note that tagging only carries a vandalism charge, you can tag constantly, and you can tag in places where few Conservatives reside (such as the Vegan Co-Op).  So while it may be useless at affecting the issues in some locations, it is quite useful in quickly turning Crack Head/Sweatshop Social Dregs into Socialist Threats.  And note that socialist threat is the lowest point at which a liberal can recruit.  I base my entire strategy on spraypainting the Vegan Co-Op.  Social Dreg to Socialist Threat in three days is nothing to sneeze at!

So if I wanted to affect the free speech issue (Most things are at L or M, or even C, but Free Speech is at C+, and the way I've been playing since the death penalty momentarily hit C+, and I thus stopped commiting uneccessary crimes has not really yeilded any public opinion bonus for Free Speech), where should I tag?

It counts as a crime (up to 10 times per raid) for determining the effects of the resulting newspaper story, and it can bring juice up to 50.

If you are shooting up places in order to influence public opinion, you might have one of them carry spraypaint. Several different crimes are more effective than many counts of one crime.

If free speech is C+, then the Firemen's HQ should be operating.  Tag there, and protest their book burning!

In contrast, the Fire Station doesn't affect any issues.

The Court House/Judge Hall affects many issues, I believe it effects Free Speech, Death Penalty, and a lot more.

Pesi, can't you dive in the code and better answer this question?  :P

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Cigar bar is the internal code's name for the Gentlemen's Club.
