Pretty much what the title says.  Even on a fresh embark I end up with 25 FPS, whereas I used to keep 100 even with 40z level high pump stacks and 30 windmills.  Anyone else getting this?

Exact opposite as you; I'm on a 160z, 4x4 map and getting roughly the same FPS at embark I did on a 3x3, 50z map in 31.25. (At least, that's what it feels like; I'm kind of scared to actually turn on FPS and check, though.)

Try digging down. There may be a surprise.

You get the same FPS with different maps and embarks?  I did have one bad embark of the dozen so far.  Can you fire up 31.25 again and check that it isn't getting the same fps problem?

My fps is fantastic, unfortunately that means the zombie hordes are that much faster.

I've had it happen where there was a hole into hell and there was a giant, never-ending cascade of magma pouring in from the magma sea. At 7 dwarves I was getting the same FPS as a pop 200 fortress. To note I also somehow dug a 3x3 stairwell 60 z lvls without hitting a single cavern.

I did a full reinstall and that solved it.  My guess is I introduced a bug in worldgen by installing the new version over the old one.

I have low FPS too, sometimes more than others. I think this is because of birds and other flyers

It probably wasn't that, there's bound to be world bugs and strange things that would destroy FPS on certain embarks. There might've been some unintentional stuff happening underground.

I was actually getting a little faster, despite being on a map with three streams and two waterfalls.
