Both choices does not sound fun, but I would choose asking. Beign escorted by guards most of the time makes blackmailing quite hard.

If you have better ideas, feel free to suggest them.

Its too late to update right now, so you cant speed things up by just voting for one of them, so really do feel free.

I say no to blackmailing. Ask the priests to check for an evil presence in the body. You don't need to see the body personally if that's all we need to do.

Re: Humanity -Obek Vandel talks to a priest

You resolve to talk to the priests. They are priest, surely they could feel the presence of evil. The guards still grudgingly escort you, but are slowly becoming more interested in what is going on. And they question you on who the old man is. You tell the truth: "I really dont know." While the guards would usually think its a lie, the old man seems crazy enough for it not to be.

You knock on the door of the chapel. Shortly a priest arrives at the door. You tell him that you need to know something about the body of a sailor that was brought here. The priest would find that exceedingly suspiious, if it wasnt for your escorts proving that this is official. You ask him if he has felt a presence around the corpse. Evil. He raises his eyebrow and responds: "No? Its a bit disconcerting, but thats usual for a corpse." You ask him to check the corpse out. If he feels anything out of the ordinary...

The priest doesnt have much better to do, so he decides to help the obviously paranoid man out. He walks into a backroom of the chapel, to look at the corpse that is already placed in a coffin. Its certainly disconcerting, more than it should be. He has seen quite a lot of corpses, but this is somehow different. The priest shrugs it off. Must be tired or something, you never really get over staring at a corpse, so its not out of the ordinary. But still...

He comes back to you and asks why you are interested in the sailor. You tell him the truth about what is happening. The old man felt something, and killed the sailor. You feel it too, but just barely. The priest thinks things over for a while. He has not decided if you are crazy yet, but he has decided that you are not completely crazy. You ask him if you could see the body. He is not supposed to let people in, but his curiosity gets the better of him.

You now have access to the chapel and the body. What do you do? Do you collect more clues(from where?) or do you have any ideas on proving that the sailor is/was evil?

First! Tell the priest the crazy old guys part of the story. Then ask him his opinion. Then check the body for any strange makings, indents, boils, or scarring. Ask about any objects that he might of had on his person.

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

They decide that they didn't get paid enough for this..

You already did. With slightly less crazy in the mix though.

Oh, then ask him his opinion on the aura and possible human sensitivity to it.

+1, I guess.  I wish we could recruit the priest, but that's for a later date.

You can do anything you want, recruit anyone you want and you could even just walk away from everything and become a simple farmer(not that you would last very long, with the demons and stuff). Whatever is most voted for, is what Obek does.

You go into the chapel to look at the body. All his clothes and belongings are still on him, at least you assume they all are. You see no obvious signs on the currently visible bodyparts, so you strip the body. The priest is not very happy about this, but he is as curious as you. His body is exceedingly average. Exceedingly. Not a scratch on him. The life of a sailor is generally quite hard, and may leave them without proper food for a bit of time, but there are signs of this on his body.

You then look through his belongings. Poor clothes and not much else, however there is a letter in his pocket. Its in very poor handwriting but you think you can make some of it out when you look at it hard enough. "We need more. Get a blonde one this time." You notice your hand shaking as it holds the letter, almost as if it does not want to hold it. You then try to decypher the rest, but it all becomes a blur. The shoddy letterwork turns into intricate runes as you concentrate on them. Whatever you felt before comes into full view as it tells you of...

You are staring into the chapels furnace. The burning letter produes a small amount of heat. You did what you were told, and you feel good, you hope to be of service again at some point. You live to serve af...wait, what?

You are staring into the chapels furnace. The burning letter produes a small amount of heat. You apparently just burned a definite piece of evidence. The guards are still next to you and the priest is slightly farther away. They are both giving you a strange look. There is an awkward silence that is finally broken when the priest asks why you randomly stormed off and threw the letter into a furnace?

What do you tell him?

Its more a matter of how you make yourself not look crazy while telling it.

Lets ask if there are any know runes that can cause a person to act on instructions without thinking of the instructions.
