What is your name? Obek Vandel
Who are you? Young Scholar and Wannabe Natural philosopher

What are you skilled at? Logical thinking, pattern recognition, mathematics.
Where do you come from? A poor mining village up in the valleys. Had the good fortune to attract the attention of a local schoolmaster who took young Obek under his wing. It was there he learnt the tools of logic, much to the dsdain of his mother. His father spent most of his time in the mines so never knew of anything.
Where are you headed? To the regional captal, to study at the well known univeristy.
And most importantly, who are you to question the gods? Obek just knew that the chaotic picture of the universe painted to him by others was not right. There had to be an order, some foundations or rules underpoinning things. Look at the seasons, the motions of the heavens... he would be the one to formulate these rules. He was sure of it.
University student with a god complex and a chance at godhood? Hell yes.

Here's a tally so far.

Obek Vandel: 8

Do we really have to drag out this slaughter fest?

No we do not. Come on, start the game already.
I vote for whatever has the most votes.

Then we can have angels in the west and demons in the east duking it out, with a little mortal trying to survive in the middle.

Name: Azra Ashon

Who you are: A wealthy lord who dreams of creating steampunk/magic-powered wonders to rival the supernatural forces.

What you are skilled at: Metalworking and mysticism

Where you are headed: To your workshop.

Why you are to question the gods: You lost most of your family to disease, war, and freak coincidences. You yourself have only survived this long through sheer determination. Angels and demons wage war, and mankind is caught in the crossfire; you're going to change that.
+1. Six to 8,come on!

Wow. This is already 2 pages with only a single post. And just as a note: telling me to update doesnt work when its 3 AM and I am sleeping. When I went sleep, Obek was just suggested. I think I made the right choice in not updating until more people had voted.

You are Obek Vandel. A young scholar and great philosopher, Or at least that what you hope you are. You come from a mining town called Barrspring, reportedly one that provides the best ore in the world. Sadly it seems to come at the cost of the miners health and in some cases, mind. The light air and the mines provide an odd mix to breathe. You are quite sure that you were the most educated person there, with the exception of the local schoolmaster who taught you. To be fair, you really want to go back there at some point, even if only to feel smug, but theres also something else making you want to go there. A little bit homesick are we?

But thats for the future, you are in Dolnar-On-Barr. You are attempting to get to the university. You have a nice little routine: Get up in the morning. Go study at the university. Go work at the store and attempt to overprice carrots. And then go to sleep. It doesnt leave much room for doing whatever you want, but its a life and you like it. Right now the hold up is that you seem to have broken your shoes, and are now walking without them. Its not very comfortable to walk on the roads made of rock like that.

The slow pace does give you an opportunity to listen to the surrounding buzz unique to a bustling city. Farmers come to sell their goods, merchants come to buy them. The occasional crazy speaking of demons and the general chitter of people talking. The population of crazies has increased recently, and have begun to be considered less crazy. And the chitter now stops when the "crazies" speak. Rumors are spreading. Some say the prison has been corrupted and that demons are destoying towns. Some say an army was destroyed in a single attack. The soldiers and wizards try to calm the people, but it all comes off as insincere, and in the moment when they dont put up the act, look even more worried than the peasantry.

It even frighten you a bit. As a man of logic, you do not fear the madness of demons, as it is most likely simple illusions. No different from a wizard doing his tricks. But you are still a bit on edge. Its hard not to be, especially that the rumors speak speicifically of Akataki, which is only a short while away from Barrspring. You try not to think about the implications, but try as you might, it does not slip your mind any longer. You feel like something bad has happened there, and you have simply been ignoring it for a while.

You have already forgotten about the fact that you lack shoes.

So, what do you do?
-Show up at the university, and attend lectures.
-Listen to the rumors.
-Go to a tavern and drink your worries away.
-Pack your things. Going home. (Warning: Theres a powerful demon in the way.)
-Something else?
