I have been attempting to set elves on fire in an experimental fortress.  I have so far been unsuccessful.  They just melt and bleed to death first.

I wonder now if gradual exposure to intermittent heat, to melt away the fat while letting them recover from the blood loss, would work better.  Once the fat is gone I could then hit them with higher heat levels and try to set them on fire.  Will have to experiment.
