I think it's suggesting that Paul Allen is obviously a pedophile because he produced a movie about a pedophile AND he kinda looks like the main character in that movie.

It's a little hard to watch, yes, but the details he explains exposes the people and companies behind the SOPA bill for being hypocrites and back stabbers. CNET, for example, is sueing people for downloading pirated and piracy software, WHEN THEY WERE THE ONES DISTRIBUTING SAID PIRATED SOFTWARE!

If what happened wasn't illegal it should be. Plus you shouldn't judge a culture you don't live in.

Oh yes, clearly "you wouldn't know" is the best response. I doubt you've even watched the video I linked (given that you can't have had time to if this is the first you've heard of it), let alone actually consider what it suggests. The corporations were hypocritical, yes; they also always have been, and everybody knew this already. Furthermore, it has absolutely nothing to do with the validity (or lack thereof) of SOPA.

In fact, jumping to the earliest defense you can get is basically the same mistake as Mike Mozart's made: "Prove" your opponents wrong by association and miss the point in the process.

I've seen that movie, and it's hardly as screwed-up as that quote makes it seem. "Banned in multiple countries"? Really?

It's a classic example of the Association Fallacy; and not even a very convincing one at that. "A is corrupt when they do X, and A is connected to Y, therefore Y is corrupt." It's like saying "People who were Nazis ate sausages, and Bill Clinton ate Sausages, therefore Bill Clinton is a Nazi!"

It's neither a convincing argument, nor does it help the case of someone who dislikes Bill Clinton for legitimate reasons. If anything, associating themselves with such terribly fallacious reasoning makes their legitimate case look worse.
