Do we have a turn list?

Also, thought you might have not noticed, my Dwarf isn't under the 'claimed' section on your 2nd post.

Thanks for pointing out. Probably forgot to update your dwarf in there. Fixed now.
This is one of the reasons why I have been working with the small Dwarf Lister program, it gets quite annoying to manage a list of 250 dwarves with editing.

By the way, since there has been no migrant waves for some time (due reaching the pop cap of 140...  ::)) I haven't updated all the babies that has born to the list. Unless there comes migrants I won't do much updating there before I get the program DL finally working.

12th of Timber, year 107

Alaric came to my office this morning. She was complaining the lack of workers helping her out with the construction of great wall. I see her point, the progress of the wall has been quite slow lately. So, to solve the problem at least temporary I assigned few of the jobless bastards to work as masons under Alaric command.

By the way, I know Alaric "The Mad" is actually the mistress of forges but as she was the one with best knowledge in masonry I ordered her to supervise the construction of wall. And so far I haven't been disappointed.

15th of Timber, year 107

The progress of the construction is still too slow so I decided that almost every dwarf belonging to peasant class must work with the project. Only three dwarves were given the permission to not take part in the project; Karakzon, Urist and Potashfields. This means we have no well over one hundred dwarves working out there, making blocks and constructing the walls.

1st of Moonstone, year 107

I was finally able to meet the caravan from mountain home. For exchange of lots of crafts we got some bars, lots of alcohol, cloth, leather and bolts. I was fairly happy with the deal.

After I had finished with the merchants it was time to meet the liaison once again. I gave him the letter dedicated to our queen. In the letter I described all our achievements and how we were officially ready to become capitol. The liaison didn't believe me at first when I told him the content of the letter. Still I managed to convince him to take the letter to our queen, even though he hesitated whether it would be a good idea to make such a remote outpost capitol.

After the discussions with the liaison were done he left the fortress, carrying the letter. I hope we hear from the queen soon enough.

7th of Opal, year 107

The western border has finally been walled!

It seems that the reassigning of labors, especially making all spare workers masons, was a good decision. The progress has quickened a lot and I believe the construction should be ready during the next year. Of course this doesn't only include the walls but the archery towers as well as station point for the Golden Depressions squad. And nice entrance, of course.

8th of Obsidian, year 107

The southern section of the wall has been finished today. This is good, very good. My estimations of the construction time holds, in fact we are a bit ahead of the schedule. I just hope that we don't get any nasty surprises during the construction.

There has been no words from the queen yet. Did she get my letter? Or perhaps she is preparing to move here while I'm writing this. Hell, she may as well be on her way already! But still the lack of knowledge is disturbing. Why she hasn't sent any confirmations to us?

And another year has come to the end.

The Map

I have turned the invasions off for a moment so that I can finish the construction of the walls and entrance. After all that is ready I will turn the invasions back.

I also found out that in order to get queen I must be able to get migrants. So I turned the popuplation limit to 270 dwarves, which is a bit above our current population.

Wow. I'm glad I was wrong, which is kinda weird...anyways, glad to see you're about to get the queen.

Idea: If and when an artifact adamantine (non-blunt) or platinum (blunt) weapon is made, equip the queen with it and a lot of artifact/masterful steel armor, have her train for a few years (or more, unil she reaches legendary in all useful skills), and unleash her dwarven fury on whomever is foolish enough to invade Combatbronze! From a nice, safe area with no sudden drops or nearby deep pools, or course.

EDIT: What are those red asterisks above the queen's chambers?

18th of Granite, year 108

The eastern wall has been finished. This means the northern border is only left. In there we shall construct the entrance as well.

Still no word from mountain home. I hope everything is alright. It would be a shame if we lost the queen at this point, we are so close to become the capitol of dwarven civilization.

5th of Slate, year 108

Our soldiers are bored. Derm informed me that they are getting lazy with the lack of action. Well, lets give them some action then.

Several cages were moved to the new arena and linked to the lever. After everything was done I ordered the Golden Depressions to prepare and station inside the arena for some action.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

After everything was ready the lever was pulled and the prisoners were freed. The slaughter was quick, as the goblins and trolls had no chance against Derm's squad.

When the fight had ended I checked the mood of our soldiers. Some of them were just shrugging as the battle was just a form of spending time here. Few of them were enjoying the real action, like the green soldier G. He was in fact ecstatic due the possibility of having live practice. That's good.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

10th of Slate, year 108

Our workers were interrupted by the pack of wild dogs while working at the northeast corner of the map. The dogs were quite vicious, even attacking when some of our workers went too close. I ordered the archers to go out there and kill the dogs but unfortunately we were too late; one dwarf dodged the attack of wild dog and fell in the pool. The poor dwarf drowned.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

To get reach the body we must drain the pool. Damn! This is slowing our work too much!

20th of Slate, year 108

The Queen is here! The Queen is here!!

Her Majesty arrived our fortress today! And with her she brought the whole court and all the servants she had, which means twenty-two dwarves, queen included.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

When the royal banners were spotted I was notified and thus I was out there to greet Her Majesty. And first thing she said? "What the hell is all this blood doing here? Why don't you clean it up?! And why haven't you constructed the proper entrance already? Now be a good dwarf and take my luggage and guide me to my quarters. I haven't had my daily beauty sleep yet!"

Yes, that's the queen I remember.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

23rd of Felsite, year 108

Apparently G had been working with some kind of artifact lately and today he finally finished it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's toga, made from giant cave spider silk.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now, the unfortunate thing is, when he finished the artifact he came right to my office. To my office where I was just having a private conversation with the queen about the details of the entrance. And even more unfortunate was that he never knocked before entering. This made the queen quite mad.

"Who the hell are you and how dare you to interrupt our discussion? Didn't your mother teach you to knock before entering? And why are you still standing? Kneel! And next you shall leave this room and report to captain of the guard, Conchobar II I think was the name. She shall decide what's the correct punishment for your lack of manners!"

I have never seen anybody leave my fortress as quickly as G did. Later I discovered that he was punished by giving him the extra shift in duty. In reality it was no punishment at all but the queen doesn't know this and nobody is going to tell her that. And so the incident was dealt.

You mean one z-level up from queen's chambers, top right corner of the room? Those are rune workshops.
